How do I remove the front convertible top bow on my 1969 Plymouth Fury III? It appears to have only two bolts on each side, but it doesn't come loose after I take out those bolts and the clip that holds the cable. It still won't budge. I don't have another front bow, so I don't want to risk damaging it by hitting it with a hammer if there's a hidden bolt I'm missing or a trick to removing it.

There is a screw holding the weather strip bracket on the other side, make sure that is out as well. That header is a very tight fit and even the slightest corrosion will hold it fast in place. The metal going over the frame is also very heavy, I used a flat body hammer on the edge and had to give it a solid whack with another hammer to break it free. It won’t hurt to give it a liberal shot of PB Blaster or Sea Foam penetrant first to help with loosen it up. Good luck!

Thanks for the input. I'll give it a try. I took those screws out also. I'll soak it in PB Blaster and give it a few days. Maybe if I rest a long piece of wood on the edge and hit that?

It's worth a try. You will have to tap each side evenly, the header slides straight out.

Curious who you got your top from and if you are satisfied with fit and quality. Looking for a new top right now for my 67 300.

I actually had a local upholstery shop take care of it for me. The took a little longer than expected and promised, but I’m definitely satisfied with it.
