I'm attempting to confirm the ID of these 2 little terrors!

Hello All
Most of my days are now spent on putting my 71 NYer back to a respectful and registrable state, as a result of apparently years of neglect and total absence of maintenance. However, I am going to see this project through to completion.
So, title explains query, and I really appreciate and enjoy the great replies I always receive from my Mopar mates in the Northern HEMI-sphere( I live down under, so thought this was a good one!). Attached is pic of a plastic clip, about 3/4 inch in diameter that has a protruding piece of same material. Does anyone recognise this clip? Is it a do

or trim clip or retainer?
The other electrical connector, with red base, black wire thats probably 18gauge wire had been hanging around my place for about 12 months. I have tried to locate it on wiring diagrams for a 72 Fury and 71 NY er, to no success. A few red plugs like this i can locate, but none have black wire. Would any electrical.resto enthusiasts be able to chime in? I would be so appreciative, as its starting to annoy me a lot...

It has a vin date that puts her manufacture in the 2nd week of December, 1971.
Which means was probably for sale early 1972 I have considered, and this has caused a few problems when I source parts.
Would it be a 71 or 72 car do you think?

If it is a 1971 then both @RWCearley Have you seen my thread about Buttercup, my 1972 NYB? It may help you with ideas and part numbers and @sixpkrt can help you.

If a 1972, @71Polara383 and @david hill have worked on Buttercup and may have some thoughts about your riddle.

Yes, that vin is correct.
I have included a picture of some fender tag decoding i did 2 years ago when I first bought the car.
I will follow up with your recommended members about the 2 items I was wanting to ID.
The point I was getting at is that its a 1971 car, no doubt about that. However it would most likely have been sold in early 1972. But the date of sale is largely irrelevant I suppose.

My dads 71 New Yorker was ordered with purchase completed in December 1970. Back then the new model year began in September, i.e., 1971 model year started in September 1970.

The car in your avatar picture (on the flat deck) is a 1971 New Yorker. I'm not much of a codes guy, but there's no way it was built two weeks before 1972. Factory switch over occurred August - September, if I recall correctly. Meaning 1972 production would have started August or September 1971.

Nice car! I am a proud owner of a 1971 New Yorker two door as well! Does your car have an aftermarket stereo in it? That could explain the snipped electrical connector. There could also be many other reasons as to why it was cut over the last half century, I wouldn't worry about it at all. And I wouldn't worry about the other do dad at all either. I've found brand new odds and ends from the factory under carpets and trunk mats many times. It looks like a window retainer, if you have the door panels off you may see one in place.

Thank you for this info. The fender tag info that you provided is missing the scheduled build date (SBD), which is the 3-digit code before the order number (VON).

Here is the closest VIN I have to your car in my (very, very partial) records: CH43T1C175339 is a 1971 EW1 NYer 4dr hardtop that went up for sale in Meriden CT in August 2020. The SBD was December 21, 1970 (C21).

The pictured plastic item is a glass channel bushing, part number 3581597, which is used to fasten the side window glass to the support bracket through the holes in the lower part of the glass. The bushing is fastened with fastener part number 3499813 in some 1971 - 1974 models. The following image shows the bushings and fasteners:

The bushing and fastener was replaced by package part number 3744734 in later models and for replacement use in earlier models.

Ayilar- see attached picture of 1971 fender tag.
nb: i confused myself with my apparen early onset dementia showing itself again- the original Carter AVS tag states number 3340, indicating that the carry was built on the 334th day of 1970, I think.This is where I mixed up my info. I shall send thru pic of the carburettor tag, for those interested.

I'd be happy to send you through photos of the paint stripes- and remnants they are!
My photography of fender tag was terrible...

Hello again ayilar, and my apologies for the delay. I spent 2 nights in hospital due to me waking up with a paralysed and numb hand. My thoughts were mild stroke or spider bite ( sometimes where I live, the critters will be felt crawling on one's leg or arm, but a quick aimed flick of the bedding usually puts and end to any further troubles...). Any

way, CT and x-ray imaging showed nothing interesting, and I've put iit down to too much wrenching parts on and off the old NYer. Not a bad way to get tendon inflammation i guess!!
Anyway, I think i owe you some pics, so please see if they are ok.I can send more stripes photos if you want -

just ask.
