HELP! 1967 POLARA 500 440hp & 4speed PRODUCTION INFO (GALEN)

The reason that car is probably still there is that it will take a massive amount of time and money and parts chasing to get it back to useable condition again. To me, that's just reality.

Is it worth saving? Certainly, if for no other reason that what it is. Can it be a huge money pit? Definitely. Financially viable? NOT for many people! THIS is where the "rose colored glasses" come off. It could well take 5 years to do that rebuild project.

Do you have at least a 30'x40' weather-tight and heated working shop in which to work on the two cars for a couple of years? Own rather than rent. That YOU can lockup and hold the key yourself? Working tools and expertise in restoration activities?

NOT to question your finances or abilities, BUT many of us have seen where a good-intentioned person bought a rare car to fix up (a basket case/project). Things were going well and then "life changed" for them. Work on car stopped. New or current spouse "wanted it gone" (for whatever reason). So the car is liquidated at a financial loss. So . . . not to "burst bubbles", but it HAS happened in prior times, more than once. BTAIM

So . . . I wish you well in your desires and dreams regarding this low-production Dodge C-body!

I gottas to know. How did you find the car? What's the complete story? Is it for sale?

I just thought it would have been more useful to report 3-spd numbers instead of 4-spd. And I still think they must have sold more than 50 Polara's / Monaco's with the slant. The 100% in the V8

We can estimate 0.3 percent three speed production based on the automatic and four speed estimates. Crunching numbers gives us about 160 three speeds.

The chart pretty much features optional items meaning if the three speed was a standard offering, I don't think it would be repoprted as a separate column.

Was a /6 available in a 67 Dodge C body?

However...I'd love to see any supporting documentation for this grid, like an O&A report, myself.

Galen's white book says there were 20 1967 Polara 500 L Code 440HP 4-speed cars built, that includes all body styles. He doesn't have the body style breakdown in 1967 like he does in 1968. So that would include 4 doors, 2 door hardtops, and convertibles. That rear end was 1967-68 C Body 440 4spd only, its basically an old Jeep rear end. Cool car, hope you get it!

Thanks very much for the information. I honestly thought the number would be a little lower. Based off this 1967 Monaco 500 information, only 5 Monaco 500 were built with 440hp and 4 speed. Can you please share a picture of your Galen info? The seller is pretty convinced that this Polara is 1 of 1 produced with this engine/trans combo.

greed ? My GG white book show 2232 and no breakdown
The 10th Edition of the 1966-1968 Galen White Books has more detailed C Body production numbers than the earlier versions. Pretty sure Galen got his numbers from the Ward's numbers Trev mentioned earlier. That is based off of percentage of sales, so the numbers may be off by a few.

As far as value.. what's an 18 spline hemi a833 worth?
What's a 13 rib 67 dual snorkel worth
What's a complete C440 HP worth
What's a D53 worth
What's the bellhousing worth

Lots of money sitting there

But what's the cut off price where it's not worth messing with? Any opinions are greatly appreciated!

I'm going back today, try and get a better look at the floors. I'll be sure to take a few more pictures.

And THANKS TO EVERYONE, on your thoughts on this!

OK, I'll bite. I'm working on a 68 Polara Convert, 383hp. auto. which I purchased from Modesto Ca, had it shipped to wisconsin. for what I purchased it for, had floor rust repaired, engine cleaned out and new valves, new convertible top and now paint job. I haven't spent that much on a car in years and I've had some pretty nice C bodies. I would love to own the car, but I would not buy it unless I was young and had a ton of money. C bodies just don't sell to the masses like a Chevelle would. for the money you would invest (lose) I would buy 1969 Corvette 4sp for which there is a market with every generation, everybody wants to own a Corvette at some point in their life., I know, I've had 6

I'm not trying to suggest parting it out.. just the value of what comes with the car. I bought mine without any mechanicals.. still accumulating parts for it. The 67-8 440mag 4 speeds are the king dingalings of the C body family. Without question.
BUY IT
