Gentlemen, working on 68 300, electric window removal. Got the 3 holes precut, ignore the 4th extra hole! Passenger side, took out the 3 bolts, motor still now coming loose. I loosened the one at the bottom left, still wont move motor. Is there something still holding motor. I have the window propped up. Am I missing something? All the imput I got made it sound fairly quick and easy. But...me, not always. On a good note, I did verfiy my horn circuit is good, both horns bad. Anymore tips on window, please, thank you!!

Some regulators have helper springs which hold the gears under tension and can make it harder to remove the motor. Watch out for that spring! I normally find a way to jam a screwdriver into the regulator to prevent it from viscously swinging when the motor is removed.

As well, sometimes there is a bracket with a nut on the round end of the motor that needs to be loosened.

I've not been inside the door of a 68 for some time so I cannot remember 68 specific issues.

I guess its time for mirror and bright light and try to see whats inside the door. I dont want to have junk come undone in the door!

Remove the bolt at the bracket on the bottom of the motor. It’s the one on the lower left in your picture.

Well I got the motor out of passenger door, hooked it up and grounded it to the door, took several flips of the switch but started turning both directions really easy to me. Not sure how to take it apart, not sure if I should. Maybe clean it up with fresh grease. What type grease? May try spraying lube on channel and what I can reach of the regulator, put it back on and see what happens. Kind of nervous about taking the rest out of the door for inspection unless its nessessary.

I've taken a couple apart. Not a big deal.

Power Window Motor Repair

Maybe a dumb question but does the drive gear just pull up out or does the worm gear have to come out first? Great pics big john, thanks!

Well I got my window motor all cleaned, new grease. Lubed window tracks and regulator parts I could to with mirror and light. Put all back together and up and down it goes, a little noisier than I would like but goes moves good and steady and good speed, no binding. Head light motor next than rear windows. Thanks for all the imput!

If you can do a window motor, you can do the headlight door motor. The problem I see is the lower bearing becoming dirty and dry.
Thanks for that. Going to start that this coming weekend. Doesnt look to tricky to removing the motor, I did verify it has voltage at connector so I know it must be in the motor.
