I took cap off and it out got it to top center again and it sounds better turning over but I think plugs may be in wrong spot or somthingDistributor could be 180° out.
Rotor needs to be pointed to #1 at TDC on the compression stroke.
Or, it could just be something in the new ignition.
But is it on TDC on the compression stroke?I took cap off and it out got it to top center again and it sounds better turning over but I think plugs may be in wrong spot or somthing

The distributor will rotate twice for every rotation of the crank. You can put it in one of two ways... and one is incorrect and won't every start.
So, you pull the #1 plug and turn the engine over with your thumb on the plug hole. When the outgoing air starts to push your thumb off the hole, then look down at the TDC mark on the balancer and turn the engine until you hit the #1 mark.
I had 12v to it and it would turn vut not startThat distributor requires a constant 12 volts. Anything less will burn up the ignition module. I agree with remcharger, run 12V to it from the battery. Also, the modules in those kits are generally junk. I've had to replace nearly every one I've ever installed.
I tried that and sounds better but still won't startOr... Just pull the distributor, grab the rotor and turn it 180° and put it back. Then try it.
YesDoes it spark?
