‘Sanford and Son’ aired its first episode on NBC 54 years ago today. The show ran for six seasons from January 14, 1972 to March 25, 1977. ‘Sanford’, a revival of the original series, ran for two seasons from March 15, 1980 to July 10, 1981.

Fun Fact: Red Foxx’ real name was John Elroy Sanford, and he named his character after his older brother, Fred Sanford.
