I had a 66 Sport Fury that I put a 440 in. It needed an interior and paint job but was straight and rust free. I am also in the middle of a 68 Barracuda build (slant six to 360). Again, a California car with almost no rust but needs an interior. My 68 Charger is from Missouri so it will need almost anything made of metal. And I have a 66 convertible Valiant that needs an interior and top. Long story short, I talked my younger brother Mike into selling a 69 Sport Satellite (GTX clone) felt guilty, wanted to share the MOPAR world, so I sold my Sport Fury to him for $0 dollars. I am helping him finish it. While looking around for a 440 for my future Charger build, a friend said he'd sell his 440 and tranny for $1200 (it has about 20K miles and many goodies). I asked what he was going to do with his 66 Fury III (2-door he is transforming to a Sport Fury). He said it needs a trunk so he was going to part it out. But, I protested, you have the new quarter panels, the front and rear suspension are rebuilt, it has a 3.23 sure grip...why part it out? He offered the whole deal to me...for $1200 dollars including all the Sport Fury trim and interior. Now what I need is a trunk floor and fender skirts. Does anyone know who makes a trunk floor for 66 Fury's? I've been on the net and am confused by some of the info I have found.
Oh yes, the 440 is a 76 from a motor home. I intend to add an Edlebrock 440 RPM intake, 4 bbl carb. aluminum water pump/housing unit and headers. I plan to have the body done (QQ1 Dark red) and then have my 413 built and dropped in place of the 440 in several years which will then go through a build up for the Charger. But I love this Fury.
