Last drive

Well last drive of the year. Took her to work today. Got to start saving for tranny rebuild and new cam for Spring. Finally got her running better the 915 heads did the trick. Just need a cam that pulls past 5000 rpms and some sticky tires and she should run low 14s in the 1/4 Ran a few 14.90s this year but with zero traction

I'm going to pull the engine and trans back out this weekend. Cam swap and reseal plus the 4-speed needs gone through its making some loud bearing noise ever since the last trip to the track.

Sweet. Mine see's duty until there is either snow or any type of salt on the road and everyday its put away I can't wait until the roads clear up again. Torture.

Nothing like a Minnesota winter but the tons of salt they put down is outrageous. A vintage car will rot away in 5 years with what they put on these roads...

Our worst winters are about 85 inches of snow a year.....

Yep polara71 our winters here in Mn can be brutal! Last year it was so friggen cold, uhh I am not looking forward to another one. The ONLY good thing is its a good time to get stuff done on the car.

You obviously don't know the history of snow in NJ. Some years we get nothing. Others we do, and when we do - its a **** load. Last winter the schools were closed for a long time, consecutively because it kept snowing one after the other.

Nobody uses salt like southwestern pa. we don't get cold enough to let the weather dry up like Mn. and not flat like NJ. We have been trying for years to empty the salt mines under lake Erie and put it all over the roads and don't even get me started with the calcium and brine that would be illegal if you put it on the road but the state spreads extra cause its cheap and doesn't come off with water also loves aluminum.

Half of jersey is flat. North Jersey starts getting "hilly" towards the northwestern part of the state....down here, we are completely horizontal. New Jersey is a paradox state. ExxonMobil Refinery around the top half, Pineys and the Jersey devil in the pine barrens the bottom half.

new york is digging from the other side. maybe we'll meet in the middle . the calcium slop is the worst stuff ever.

I think we have to much salt money in central Ohio. My 10 year old work van just rusted through a brake line 2 weeks ago. I only have 129,000 on it, but drive it all year round. My mechanic said he believes the salt brine we now have been using for several years it making thinks worse. He has had many more rust related problems come in, in the last couple of years.

Maryland is a strange land...

Some years we get Alaska snow and some years not a single snowflake. I just love to drive my NYB year round but the car cover goes on at the first salt blizzard.

Down here in Bama......... snow, maybe..... salt, never.
Driving season lasts through mid January, then it's anyones guess until later feb, (usually have to put the top up then), when spring comes.

The down side is that it makes it tough to find time to work on the car, best thing, have at least two operating cars.......
