I've just noticed that my Polara seems to love to present every possible problem that it can whenever I work on it. I know it's probably just fate, but anyone else go through the same thing? Whatever can rear its ugly head, does. Either way, I'm going to finish the task at hand.

Thanks Stan. I love working on her, just hate the lessons she teaches. I did fire up a stogie with the words Havana and Cuba on it, ya know, to ease the pain. If I didn't have my cars I would be a miserable drunk. They keep me drinking just the right amount. :)

I've had moments when my cars piss me off so bad they were 5 minutes away from going to the crusher. No, seriously.

I've never felt that bad about them. It's weird how they definitely have their own personality though. I know she loves me for saving her.

And my dog loves riding in too much to get rid of it!

Big red is always so easy to work on but can be a real bit** when she is in a bad mood or gets mad when stuck in traffic. I find if I just wash her it runs better. My renault is a happy little car, never seems to complain too much and just enjoys to be driven slowly as it really is never in a hurry to get anyware. My 2015 200c I dont think likes me to much, of coarse I dont have to work on it but I can see us not getting along.....crazy huh?

Not a C Body, but it fought me never the less. 1969 273 V8 Dodge dart. I bought it in 2006 in Phoenix. It ran perfect, no noise, no smoke, super smooth. Problem is, change the oil, after fifteen minutes driving/running, the oil was brown mud. Three times in a week. Antifreeze would drop as well. I was going to sell the car, but not like that. I finally pulled off the front timing cover, and there was a small hole in the aluminum cover Itself, a straight shot from antifreeze to the engine oil. I forgot that Phoenix water is so hard, the aluminum rots out. I wound up rebuilding the whole engine, and painting under the hood. So, the Transmission was old, so I did that too. Then, the original wiring started to act up, as it was all dried out from being in the desert. Fortunately I had a Nebraska parts car, and the wiring was like new. I first yanked out all the old wiring, and repainted the dash, and installed a nice pad, then Installed all the wiring from headlight to the tail lail lights. Then it drove like crap, so I rebuilt the suspension, bushings and all, after pulling the K member to be powder coated. Then the brakes sucked, so I did the brakes, the shocks froze up, so I replaced them. The Muffler blew after startup, so Accurate exhaust sent me a new exhaust. I hated the dried up Interior, and after a search, I found a beautiful blue Interior from a car with 17,000 actual miles that the owner was cutting the floor out of In Pennsylvania, and was going to throw it all away because it was a four door Dart. Who cares about a four door, right?
He gave me the seats, door panels, door handles, sunvisors, rear speaker tray, and arm rests for $390.00 delivered. Then, The wheels also sucked, so I powder coated them, and bought new tires. Hey, but the original radio worked! And, there was a newspaper in the trunk dated 10 June 1971, saying we were going to enter a new ice age. The good thing is it was a rust free beautiful Custom sedan. I am up to 200 miles, it is licensed and Insured, and I mainly look at it. W1 white with B5 blue Interior. Now, I know some here are laughing at the sequence of events, but it shows how easy it is to get sucked into a project. If I didn't love 1969 Dodge darts, I would have never gone to so much trouble. I finished this car in 2009.
Now what I say? HA HA HA

That might be the problem...

I had a 68 Cougar that was the worst money pit back in the day for me. I should have never bought it but it was different than a Stang but it cost 3 3 engines and 2 tranny's in less than one year.
I was a Ford guy at the time and still am to a certain degree...

I finally literally dropped a 302 into it and sold it for about 10% of what I paid for the car.
I learned later that it burned in a garage fire.
Or did it burn the garage???

She has to be a girl, moody at the wrong times, never agrees with me, always on her terms. If it was a guy, it would cooperate or at least give a much better opinion of the current situation at any given time.

Murphy can be a *****!:BangHead: I have had a couple of vehicles that I literally thought were haunted or possessed . Always broke down in the pouring rain or as far away from civilization as possible. New stuff failing 1 day after installation...things like that. Ironically...they were both Fords:soapbox:

Avanti,
Ever since I saw them when they were intro'd in '62, I knew I had to have one.

About 14 years I did it . Bought a red (of course) '64.
The general thought at that time was that plenty of parts were stil available.
Try waiting for obsolete Jaguar (!) disc brakes from England.
And that was only one part of dozens of others.

Sexiest car in the world. Worst P.O.S. in the world.
You'll never see an original Avanti for sale that has yet had the odometer roll over.

...and yet my 68 Cougar was the opposite. Now the transmission did act up and decide not shift into certain gears at 30,000 miles. Being 18 and before the internet I had to search with other methods to figure out the problem which was localized to the low reverse band. Learned enough info to go down to Ford and by some replacement parts and some beefier parts for future engine mods. Took it to a shop and had them rebuild the transmission with the parts I collected. Oh, also learned you really do need to change the fluid every 25,000 miles in a C4 from that era. That was in 1970 and she has run great since that repair.

My last jeep build i thought hated me. The temp sensor went out one day while off roading so i drove it home and replaced it. 2 weeks later another temp sensor went. This time the guage was bouncing between 210 and redline. One second its fine, the next red. So again i left the offroad park, drove 20 min home thinking it was the sensor. I get home and its hot as all hell. Bubbling antifreeze out im thinking head gasket or heads cooked. Thank god it was all iron. It turned out ok. So i disconnect that electronic BS and put a mechanical guage in. I go to work the next day thinking its all good and there she goes HOT. WTF im thinking. So i take it home start digging around and everything seems to be in working order. New thermostat, nope still gets hot, 1 new aluminum radiator, nope still gets hot, flush the system still gets hot. Then i pull it apart again and realize the a/c condenser is so packed with mud and wasn't allowing enough air to get to the radiator. My own stupidity, not looking at things close enough. So maybe the jeep didnt hate me, my ADD did!

Of all the cars I've owned (and that's a lot), I've never had one that I thought hated me. I've had a couple of lemons, but I never took it personal.

My ex-wife.... Different story. All my cars hated her. I could drive a car for year straight.. never have a seconds worth of problems... Then she would drive it once... and the car would break down. I think they were trying to tell me something.

Let the dog do the driving ?
