Not a C Body, but it fought me never the less. 1969 273 V8 Dodge dart. I bought it in 2006 in Phoenix. It ran perfect, no noise, no smoke, super smooth. Problem is, change the oil, after fifteen minutes driving/running, the oil was brown mud. Three times in a week. Antifreeze would drop as well. I was going to sell the car, but not like that. I finally pulled off the front timing cover, and there was a small hole in the aluminum cover Itself, a straight shot from antifreeze to the engine oil. I forgot that Phoenix water is so hard, the aluminum rots out. I wound up rebuilding the whole engine, and painting under the hood. So, the Transmission was old, so I did that too. Then, the original wiring started to act up, as it was all dried out from being in the desert. Fortunately I had a Nebraska parts car, and the wiring was like new. I first yanked out all the old wiring, and repainted the dash, and installed a nice pad, then Installed all the wiring from headlight to the tail lail lights. Then it drove like crap, so I rebuilt the suspension, bushings and all, after pulling the K member to be powder coated. Then the brakes sucked, so I did the brakes, the shocks froze up, so I replaced them. The Muffler blew after startup, so Accurate exhaust sent me a new exhaust. I hated the dried up Interior, and after a search, I found a beautiful blue Interior from a car with 17,000 actual miles that the owner was cutting the floor out of In Pennsylvania, and was going to throw it all away because it was a four door Dart. Who cares about a four door, right?
He gave me the seats, door panels, door handles, sunvisors, rear speaker tray, and arm rests for $390.00 delivered. Then, The wheels also sucked, so I powder coated them, and bought new tires. Hey, but the original radio worked! And, there was a newspaper in the trunk dated 10 June 1971, saying we were going to enter a new ice age. The good thing is it was a rust free beautiful Custom sedan. I am up to 200 miles, it is licensed and Insured, and I mainly look at it. W1 white with B5 blue Interior. Now, I know some here are laughing at the sequence of events, but it shows how easy it is to get sucked into a project. If I didn't love 1969 Dodge darts, I would have never gone to so much trouble. I finished this car in 2009.
Now what I say? HA HA HA
