He specified. I think Ma Mopar was actively playing with these till '78.

That is supposed to be the engine for one of these:

Somebody from the Turbine project peeked over the cubicle of the guy working on the new Imp.

That would be cool if that turbine could be made operational and put it in Formal!

I had no idea they were that BIG, the side shot really shows it. The plenum on the RHS looks like it is off a WWII aircraft.

Oh yea, didn't look far enough down.

Didn't know there was any development past the 60's version. Pretty cool prototype though, thanks for the comments, as always a plethora of info.

WOW ! The **** that turns up on eBay is amazing ! That looks like a good thing for Leno to buy.

I am very familiar with aircraft turbines but the Chrysler looks weird to me, but they had to package it in a car

Neat...

But I don't have a big enough coffee table to display it... Leno can have it.

I think it is proven by now that a turbine in a car is not an ideal engine - if it mechanically propells the vehicle. However, I often wonder if a turbine wouldn't be a superior device to produce electrical energy in one of those e-cars that have an auxiliary (piston) engine to produce electricity once the batteries are empty.

I don't think any fossil fuel engine is the future.
My father in law is a designer at Tesla, he shares tidbits now and then. Battery/charging technology is moving along rapidly, electric will be the future for autos.

I wonder how a guy gets a turbine engine out the back door anyhow?

Maybe. But WHY does he have it. The circumstances are more unusual than the rarity. This engine shouldn't exist.
Yep!
I would have expected that would have been scrapped a long time ago. By scrapped, I mean dismantled and scrapping fully documented. That's the way Chrysler used to do things back then.

On the other hand, given how Daimler treated Chrysler, it's totally possible that the engine was in the back room of some division that Daimler discarded to the highest bidder and from there it ended up in someone's garage.

thinkin this will go 20 k plus and will be between two buyers...are a couple folks out there l cant see them letting this get through their fingers
