It's Not Going to Shift Itself
Saw this today
....
The prez has kept them busy from day one no matter who it was, another thing that is great about US, we can have satire about our leader without having to fear for your life.Well....SNL should be able to stay busy for the next 4 years.
Maybe but Hitler was born in Austria...These facts are certain,
He has German Ancestry.
..
You know, if you're going to call someone a racist, you should at least provide the quote.
As for equating "German ancestory" with Hitler, well that's sort of racist itself, isn't it?
I'm not trying to provoke you, I'm just saying why those arguments don't convince me.
As for equating "German ancestory" with Hitler, well that's sort of racist itself, isn't it?
Now you want to talk about racism, since I am half German yes I made the comparison to the most despicable German of all time.
That has no sence : Hilary wanted to make war against Russia because of hacking ! obama started wars too !For me I served my time, my son and daughter are over draft age. I really hope none of your children or grandchildren have to go out and fight another war because he did something stupid.
Steve, I have to say that I agree with most of that, shocking I know. Thank you.Quite often, I find myself seeing things differently than the norm on this board, and with this subject it is true as well. I come from a state that voted against Trump virtually 2 to 1 (61% to 33%). Personally, I have been fed up with both parties for a long time. They aren't that much differerent, and neither stands up for middle America. In California, I see very little racism, as people here just plain get along very well and skin color has little importance (I live in a typical middle class town). You can walk into a restaurant and see school kids after a sports game celebrating their win that evening, and to watch them is enlightening. The kids are a total mixture of races, with white kids not a big plurality. They laugh, have great fun and get along great, and they obviously care nothing about color. Encouraging. Our economy has rebounded pretty well although not fully from the crash of 2008 and jobs here are not nearly as hard to come by compared to what is apparently taking place in other parts of the country. Employers are now even advertising for job applicants much more frequently on the radio stations. We also have a pretty good governor, who stays out of the news pretty much compared to Arnold Schwarzenegger and just tends to his job diligently and intelligently. We very much understand the importance of technology innovation to be the center of job creation and economic growth (witness silicon valley). The weather also helps.
What I am trying to say is that getting along, cooperating, and looking positively to the future is critical to our country's success.
Lest you think I am going to disparage Donald Trump, you are just wrong. Rather, I feel I owe him a great deal of gratitude - he did what I thought was impossible, and which gives me great hope. He devastated both of the two elite bought-and-paid-for parties and was the bowling ball that scattered all their plans like the pins in a bowling alley. Bravo.
But what perplexes me the most, is that I don't know how President Donald Trump will behave compared to his campaign. When I look at his family, I am generally impressed, although his daughters seem a little more intelligent and balanced than his sons. That means to me he can't be all that he characterized himself to be in the campaign. I hope that the weight and enormity of the job ahead makes him a more thoughtful person and now tones all the negative stuff down a lot. I liked his acceptance speech where he said he would represent everyone. That is a great start.
I live my life with a positive attitude of hope, respect for everyone regardless of race and try to encourage and help people rather than tear them down. I believe such an attitude makes one more content and to live longer and have better relationships with a lot of good friends. I also like Bernie Sanders offer to help Trump with certain areas of agreement they both had, such as in the area of more smart trade deals for the U.S. and making a more balanced economy for the middle class and poor and to discuss openly how best to achieve better healthcare for everyone. I really have nothing much to say about the Clintons, although I thought Bill Clinton did more damage to our country with his policies than any president in my lifetime, and was not looking forward to Hillary at all - and leave it there.
Bottom line for me, I just hope that the weight of the job will reform some of Trump's rhetoric and that he means what he says about working for all. He has shown a willingness in the past to listen to ideas and policies and change his mind about things when the logic makes sense. He now has a great opportunity, and I wish him the best. We all really do need to come together and work things out for the common good of the people of this country, or we will certainly become less of a beacon in the world of fairness and democracy and might. Otherwise, the world will become ever more dangerous and we will all lose - together and potentially with great disaster. I will therefore, keep an open mind about President Trump and as always, hope for the best. I also feel the Lord is still in charge, and that for me is critical although I fully realize many of you do not, and that is OK too.
