I had a fellow move a 20 ft shipping container with stuff in it that cost something like $2500 to go 1800 miles. I decided to check around and called the rail company when it had to be moved again, if I dropped it off at the rail yard, they quoted me $238 for the same distance, I almost fell over backwards and couldn't pay fast enough after I asked three times, are you sure that's right????? Yup total cost $238. It cost more to move it across town via rollback.

I don't have anyone that I use on a regular basis. I normally go to U-Ship and get quotes there. They also have ratings on the shippers.

Thigns like ebay and CL are probe-tools for marketing, and that sometimes leads to a sale, so you gotta keep using them. IMO qty of views and watchers means little, as you don't know the reason people will look at it. For me, I look at thigns to mentally bet whether they'll get zero bids, whether they'll be a no-sale, or just to check for gems that aren't described correctly. I haven't bought a car from ebay in years, yet I look at things daily.
Remember - you gotta have 2 horses to run a race. I think you would've been better off listing with a lower opening bid and a reserve, and hope to get 2 guys fighting over it, which often leads to 'I'll just bid another $100 higher'. Your opening bid and NR for what you need to get out of the car is an honest-man's approach, but it sometimes just doesn't work with cars on ebay.
I think your price on the car isn't unreasonable, but because it needs so much work to hit the streets again your field of buyers is narrowed. Then some people will immediately pass because it's green, some due to 318, and the shipping cost does rule out long-distance folks. This is a great car for someone who can do all the work himself.
I respect your pledge to keep trying to sell the car whole, please do so as long as you reasonably can.
I have had consistently good prices and service from Dave Fountain. He is energetic and gets the job done efficiently and as cheaply as you will find for reliable, honest, no-worry service. He hand picks his transporters after many years in business. I have been shipping cars for a long time, so I have some idea of who is worth calling. I don't recommend U Ship because you never really know much about who you might be getting in my experience although they might be a marker for a price quote.

I absolutely love that "puke green" color. That and the "calf **** brown" color. Something about those colors just appeal to me. They just scream 197Os man.

Thanks again everyone for helping me out. I may have to pass on this one. Still waiting on a few more quotes, but doesn't look like I will be able to do it. So my quest for a 70-71 Fury or 71-72 Polara continues. This is a solid car and will worth saving!

OK guys, any interest? This car is losing it's inside storage very soon. Apparently it is virtually worthless so it will sit outside until the hot desert sun bakes the interior to a crisp. It will then become a parts car. I've advertised it here, on E bay, Craigslist and Facebook and have had no better offers than trading it for a golf cart or some fire arms. I'm certainly not against trading it but it has to be something I want. Seriously guys this car does need a lot of work but it is worth saving. Rant off.

Sorry to hear it, I completely understand your frustration. I have one of these I've been trying to sell for months, with a 440HP and 4.10:1 gears in it. It's been for sale everywhere, and so far I've had one offer for $1500 as a running gear donor for some other piece of crap. I thought the '70/'71 cars with this roof and glass were the most popular? What happened?

We'll I'm not saying the hobby is dying but due to a number of reasons it's certainly on the decline . One thing for sure is the number of project cars out numbers the would be restorers.
