Well guys, I had posted about this 1970 Fury I was going to look at in Vermont in the convertible thread.Well, it's back home in the garage and I am very happy.I have regretting selling my '68 Newport vert even though I didn't have much luck with it.This car is in much better shape and won't require much to get it in really nice shape if I can find the bits it does need. First off, it is a New Mexico car with 74,442 documented original miles. It came east to Vermont in 1991 with 43,561 miles on it.It was originally "Sandpebble Beige" but was repainted "Ivy Green" sometime around 2000. There is some bondo work in the rear quarters and a repair done to the drivers side in the trunk. It appears to have been done properly and is still very solid except for one spot that I will correct this winter. It was last registered in 2014, but has been driven short distances around town since. Unfortunately Vermont registrations do not list mileage so I don't know the specifics. The gentleman I bought it from had owned it for the last 25 years and it has been garaged all those years. I will post up more details as I get into this car....so very happy to be back in a C-body vert!

The car does need tail light lenses badly and the hood mounted turn signals are missing the lights. The dash plastic is rough...just have to see what can be done with it. The goal is to drive this thing, not work on it constantly or perfect it in any way.

When that car popped up, I really thought it could be a great value. I'm glad to see that it was.

Good choice on the goals... Too many guys start striving for perfection (I've done it too) and lose sight of having fun with the car.

Congratulations! Looks like an honest car there that you can cruise while tweaking. Please update the rear view mirror when you get a chance instead of that JC Whitney thing.

Nice looking car. Put a roller timing chain in that trusty 318 and it should last pretty much forever. To me, an "insurance" thing against future issues in that area. What are the carb issues? Just curious. Can't forget those rubber fuel line hoses (including the one at the tank), either.

Have FUN and ENJOY!

I haven't had a chance to look at those kind of details...I would like to put a set of oem mirrors on for sure.

I will take a look at the carb tomorrow...I think it just needs a rebuild. It won't idle right and is flooding the motor. There is a oil leak from the front cover, so a timing set and gaskets are a must.

Looks good! I’m glad you’re happy with it. I was in New Hampshire a few months ago and was strongly consider taking a look at this one. Price was attractive and the ad was too. But it would be my 2nd Fury and I decided I have too many cars for now. You sure got a deal!

How do you feel about going back to "Sandpebble Beige"?
Nope....I like it in the green.

I sure am glad you didn't....what was the asking price back then?

Awesome buy! I know a guy who has a few 70 Fury parts. None are NOS, but most good driver quality. And there in the state o Maine.
