I know the PO personally; he is my first cousins father-in-law and have known him for 20 plus years. I took him for a ride last December on his last radiation treatment day for cancer. I was the first time he had been in the car for over 30 years and, he was all smiles. I just found out that it has spread and his prognosis is terminal.

I told him last fall that we would be driving it around town this summer with the top down. My painter said it will be done next weekend and I can start reassembling her. I am thinking of taking a couple days off work to try and get her in driving mode. I already picked up my unfinished seats from the upholstery shop to bolt in my gutted interior.

My short term goal now is to get her road worthy with most of the exterior trim in place and take him for a ride. The interior can come later. The gentleman is 80 and they are talking in terms of weeks, not months or years. I want to do this last thing for him. He loved the car. He just didn’t have the money or skills to restore it himself.

That's very noble of you........I hope you can get her done in time!!!

Good for you Zymurgy and I hope you are able to achieve this for him ... all power to you!

Thanks guys I feel like I can do this. I just stopped by my painter and the trunk lid and hood are beautiful, I couldn't be happier with his work. I think I might be able to get her back in my shop next weekend

Sure you can do it, and after all is done another memory of the car is sealed . Excellent idea!!

Today was the day I was hoping for. I tried to give the Earl the previous owner, a ride in the 300 on Father Day, but his kids thought he needed to rest. He then decided to move down to Cincinnati where one of his daughters live and stay and a assisted living home. He came back to Springfield for a doctors appointment today. The doctor told him to be admitted to a hospital because severe dehydration but before he went to the hospital he wanted to see and go for a ride in the 300. It was my honor and privilege to jump in the car and head over to his house.

Looks like Earl had a great time!!!!

That was super cool of you to give him thrill!!!

It was a great day and he was very happy to see the car and go for a ride. His daughters said I made a nice bright spot in a very difficult day. I knew there was a chance I might go see him today. I prayed for a nice day because they were calling for thunderstorms, but it turned into a beautiful day.

Man I am so glad it worked out for you, for everyone, that's so cool. God's best to you and that family. :sSig_goodjob:

Every distraction and smile is priceless at times in our lives. All the best to you.

............. I cringed and clenched my teeth when that lady slammed your door, thinking you may not have your door seals in yet.

I cringed because I thought it hit his elbow. (I bumped Grandma's elbow in the door once: she was not happy.)

It made me cringe and it made Earl jump. I was just getting ready to tell her the door is a lot lighter than you think and close it carefully. The only good thing is my 300 is gutted on the interior but my seals are still in place.

Hey, that's great......what was important is that you made his day, made him smile. His family should have appreciated that as well, esp in the difficult circumstances they are dealnig with right now.
