Thank you for questioning my claim. I hate to muddy the water with misinformation, which it seems I have. I think I first heard this claimed on this site many years ago and took it as told without questioning it's validity.
Thinking about it, there's no way they made special guards for a sub...
I spent about ten minutes digging and couldn't find anything to back up my claim. Other than that one picture, I've seen two other 1971 Newport royals equipped with those large protectors. I swear when I first saw them I was able to find some information about them, none now. Possibly they were...
That's a neat bar on that '68 fury! Kinda looks like a sway bar that fits the factory bumper bolts. And let us not forget about the 1971 Newport Royal with 360 and factory extra large bumper protectors.
Oh you did get it started! I thought it was just the first attempt and didn't finish the video. Are we able to upload videos directly now? Here goes something... Nope too large for the server to process.
C body has 1.25 inch thick rotors, B body is 1 inch thick. Can't see those calipers bolting up to stock mounting bracket either, although kits usually come with an adapter plate of sorts. And I must say I'm not a big fan of that line routing, should have some wire wrap gravel guard at least.
I've never actually done it, but the only thing preventing it from manually opening is the sealed fluid in the system. The top pin should be accessible once down, or somewhere in the arc.
I understand his position completely. He might not want the extra work of repairing the channel either. I don't know how much work you're having done, but if it's not done right it won't last long.
I'd look around for a reputable glass shop to remove and replace the windshield at the body...
That's because there isn't. There also is no "sport" Monaco. That's why "there's very limited information on this body style." Looking at the pictures hurt my eyes, reading the message made me chuckle, so it evens out.
I'm going to Google 1972 Dodge Monaco sport R/T in a week to see if the ai...
You may be able to mangle the two tops ones off, however to get them on properly you have to go in the reverse sequence I described for removal. The two tops go on first, sides second and lastly bottom. The sides also need to come off to do the vinyl roof correctly.
The question then is, why...
You found it! Nothing broken or rusted off, just the factory stamping. The one I had problems with had two smaller notches similar to the one on your car. Let us know how it goes.
Heat (unless extreme) won't help if it is silicone. Urethane will respond to heat. Trouble is getting to the clips covered in whatever it is. The bottom trim is screwed on, no clips, so that's the first one to come off. Might need an exacto blade going straight down to cut the gunk out. Then...
Nice car and happy holidays! Two doors and four doors share the same bumper. Also worth noting is that you have the "standard" rear bumper. Newport customs have an extra little insert between the taillights, it'll fit just the same, just won't be 100% correct, if that matters. Also, 1971 will...
Body guys aren't necessarily glass guys. If your current windshield is good, an experienced glass guy should be able to remove it without damage. When I did glass I was called to a few body shops to do glass removals and later installations. Might be worth a call?
And depending on the severity...
