I also like the hooker super comp headers for c bodies. Have an old used set and bought a new ceramic coated set a couole years back when holley had a big sale around this time of year.
I have run the hedmans in two C bodies and they worked fine. Need a small starter fyi.
I think these would be perfect in a heavy c body but my they have gone up!
Big Block Mopar Tri-Y Under Chassis Headers
The larger the primary tube diameter the more it hurts low end torque. Larger tubes are recommended for higher HP applications, lighter cars with lower rear end gears, and drag racing applications where the engine turns higher rpm's and stays there longer.
The engine needs to breathe but too big...
I don't like the Tti C body headers as the 1 7/8 primaries are too big for a HEAVY car with anything near a stock motor and freeway gears. I went through that with my Polara and a 496 c.i. stroked 440.
Unless you are hot rodding the thing a good dual exhaust from the manifolds back will save...
I hope you have a good rear suspension,u joints,and driveshaft!
If it hooks you better hold on!! I will recommend a bias type rear tire for any dragstrip action. You will want some sidewall flex to absorb some of the driveline shock.
The 505 in my Duster makes North of 600hp and TQ so I...
A little lean there in the middle but great numbers. Won't really need much stall if any and will pull 3.23 gears all day long.
No need to Rev it to the moon either. Hardly ever see 5000 rpm unless you are chasing a time slip.
Would love to know what cam when you have the time.
Excellent results!
What compression and camshaft if you don't mind sharing?
What rpm for peak torque and HP or a Dyno graph better yet?
Very nice numbers! Football field torque!!
To the right buyer it will be worth more.
It seems a little extra work would make it a quicker candidate to sell. With a fitting hood my guesstimate would be $7500.
You could always sell the motor(or take it out and keep it) if you find a buyer for the body.
I like the car and would have no...
I switched my 72 Newport 400-2 to an Edelbrock performer and a Holley spread bore 4 bbl. Both picked up used very reasonable. That being said since then I have acquired an Edelbrock dp4b and a performer rpm (both used) for later should I ever get back to the project.
Depending how rowdy you are...
I like the look of both of them. Two different personalities. I have the same set of wheels I was going to put on the 72 Newport as they are wider then the C body road wheels on there now. I also have a set of Rallye wheels that I don't think would look right on the port but I found a set of 72...
