You're spot on about not running off the cars tank. The old fuel can turn into a turpentine like fluid that will work itself into the valve guides causing stuck valves, bent push rods or worse.
Here's one I recently removed from my '65 300L. Original one and the new one I haven't installed yet. I think I paid around 350 for this copper unit. Best one I could find. Notice the 2 heater hoses I mentioned,
I can remember back in the early nineties, I had a '66 Chrysler 300 that the heater core went bad in. This was a factory AC car with dual heater core. That original setup wasn't available at that time, O'Reilly's showed me the replacement for it...which was just a single, it bolted in but I had...
That's the front strut rod, not another stabilizer bar. Very loaded up for a Newport. Are you parting it out? Does the power antenna work? It looks kind of bent
'65 300L with 245 60 15 Goodyear tires and Magnum 500's. No issues. Tires from late '90's. Good tread no weather cracking but must put some new shoes on her due to age. I wish Goodyear still made this style of block white letter tires. Guess I'll have to go with Cooper.

Here's some pics of the solenoid pack, easy to remove, two screws, you can see the holes in one pic. The one removed is bad, notice the waxy paper that should surround the outside of the coil is missing except one small piece. Their just a simple coil winding. The spol the winding is wound on is...
One last thing, those shift forks that slide in and out of the solenoid should be dry and clean. Never grease the part of the fork that slides in and out of the solenoid.
