Well.... It's been a year in the planning and many things have changed. Originally my wife and I were going to drive the New Yorker to Chicago and then follow as much of the historic route 66 back to California. That was before we knew that we had a new granddaughter showing up the same week were planning on leaving. Anyways, we decided to stick around home another week and ship the car to our friend's house in Saint Louis, MO. We will visit friends there and then join up with more friends from California that have old cars caravan back to California. Our stops will be Joplin, Oklahoma City, Amarillo, Albuquerque, Flagstaff, and Lake Havasu City. After that, if we and the vehicles are holding up, we will head to Santa Monica before returning up the coast to Half Moon Bay.

Today we had the car picked up and we will meet her in Saint Louis on Friday. From there the journey will begin!

Here are a few pictures from this afternoon before and during loading.

Sounds like a blast! - I'm right on old 66 in St. Louis county/Sunset Hills area it's called Watson Rd. through there, one of the numerous different alignments through STL.

The Ted Drewes frozen custard shop is the biggest local rt.66 attraction, and there's a few restored neon signs as you head west from there.

Ted Drewes is high on our list!!

HELL YA!!! Road Trip!!!!! I’m envious, please post as you go and be safe. Plenty of pic too. Like that needed to be said. Lol

There's some original 1916 alignment SW of st Louis at devil's elbow, don't miss it!

Great plan. Have a fantastic road trip, I have done it a few times in the last twenty years in old Mopars and a Cadillac. Meteor crater was a good stop.

Thursday afternoon on Mcculloch here in Havasu is like a mini car show. Would be nice to see yours there. Depending on the time frame, hope your A/C is working good. Should be a fun trip.

We flew into Saint Louis on Thursday and the New Yorker was waiting for us. After visiting with friends for two days, we hit the road yesterday (Sunday). The Chrysler drove like a dream and glided from Saint Louis to Joplin. Great sites and fun times so far. High point was Uranus Mo, but more on that later. Absolutely Hilarius. Pictures to come.

Made to Albuquerque today! So far so good (Knock on wood :) The New Yorker is driving like a dream... smooth and comfortable. Tomorrow we are heading to a corner in Winslow Arizona. I heard there is a girl in a flatbed ford there that is quite a site to see!! Then on to Flagstaff tomorrow night. Any other recommendations along the way?

Be safe and keep us posted (and post pics). I will be living vicariously through you and your wife.

great pics, I am following your posts of what looks to be a fun trip. I found Meteor crater to be a good stop along with all the old road side attractions and of course the Grand Canyon.

The Meteor Crater was brought up at our dinner last night with the group we are caravaning with. I think that will be added to the list for today. Thanks for the recommendation.

How is the wheel and tire package doing on the long drives? Nice and smooth?

Excellent! They seem to be well balanced as we have exceeded 80 mph on a couple occasions, and I haven't experienced any vibration. We did hit some heavy rainstorms along the way, and the old Chrysler felt solid with good traction. And yes... the ride is nice and smooth.

Beautiful car. I missed out on the FCBO Route 66 journey last year, but it's still on my bucket list to travel as much of the route as I can. Thanks for sharing your trip with us.
