What are you working on today??

Pulled the engine a week ago, today pulled pistons and crankshaft. No 6 had low compression .
Found a piston ring broken and worn rod bearing, as well as worn no. 4 main bearing.
Next, the Block will be bored.

After weeks of frigid cold and highs of -20 (-4 degrees F for my US compatriots), things warmed up to 0! Feels so nice and the roads were clean and dry, so I went cruising in the NYB!

It was so nice to get my old car fix in February that it ought to hold me until the season really arrives!

Great day!

After replacing the TNT pie tin with the NOS tin purchasedfrom Tobias, I backed the New Yorker up to move it out of the way to make room in the shop for the next engine build.
After checking the fluids, the temp was 30° but the sun was still out, so I went for a spin.

Did an oil change on my 02 2500, and looked at a plow mount that I picked up that I will need to modify some to mount my plow off my 98 2500. I think I will start this project after spring has sprung.

We’re continuing with our forever home project. Painting the piano room, after patching all of the picture frame holes and grinding out old curtain rod mounts.

Things are converging beautifully!

Took a quick trip to Ace Hardware to get some more lump charcoal for my egg. Going to cook up a batch of Smoked Carnitas Green Chili. Also since it’s dry out I decided to knock the cobwebs out. And then start seeing if I can troubleshoot my engine analyzer while I am waiting to find the right Phototransistors for my exhaust analyzer.

Spent the day with Wyatt at his shop stripping what's left of the 70 Newport convertible.
Going back tomorrow to to bring some of the remains and the engine/trans back to my shop.
The temps were around 50° and it was sunny all day. Supposed to be warmer tomorrow.

I took a road trip to Crystal Lake Il last Sunday then on to Rockford Il. to pick up parts that I purchased from @sixpkrt. This trip involved The plan was to help Tim transport his engine and transmission back to his shop along w/ a few other items. Well, thats how it started.................. On the way over to @71Polara383 we ran into a little trouble .

Very little warning. A quick assessment revealed 4 of 5 lug studs sheared off, the brake rotor was ok, but the tire and wheel couldn't be found. Tim was a real class act in helping me get a tow truck and parts. With Tim and pitching we were in Rockford by 7:00PM. With Tim's and Wyatt's help we were loaded and were back in Cristal Lake in no time. I am all most at a loss of words to describe Tim Kelly's hospitality. Tim is one of a kind and I'm proud to call him a good friend. I can never say thank you Tim often enough Will post more photos tomorrow of the parts bought.

The weather has broken here, at least for a while. It was a crazy winter.... Syracuse has regained the title of "snowiest city in the USA" with 112" of snow for the season. That's still 15" less than average for here. Hopefully we're done, but you never know....

I stay out of the garage in the winter as the old bones can't handle it anymore. It's actually just as well as it gives me a break away from cars so I don't burnout (which I've done before).

I've been trying to get caught up with other things, but I did get a little quality time with the 300L.

The windshield washer was gone when I got the car, so I bought the Ford replacement that everyone says "works". It really didn't fit, and I didn't want to drill any non-stock holes. I managed to get it mounted without the rubber feet that insolates the pump so it's not as noisy. It made a helluva racket though and I didn't like it.

Fast forward and I was looking for a used pump to repair and I discovered a decent repop on eBay. 1962 66 Chrysler Plymouth Dodge CORRECT Windshield Washer Fluid Pump MoPar USA | eBay I looked at an NOS that was priced a tad high for my taste and this looked just like it.

Here's the difference. The base plate has smaller holes with the holes closer together, so no drilling!

No pictures, but I also replaced the leaky release valve for my lift.

Today, I also finished the '68 300 model car of my Dad's car that I started about 55 years ago. Correct color, but I never liked the brown interior, so I painted the interior black. I learned to drive in that car.

The wife and I hit a couple estate sales this morning, blue sky and 75 degrees here in east texas. Yesterday I made my first 5 mile maiden voyage in my 68 300! Still got to get speedo hooked back up. Car did real good, tranny shifted nice and firm. Steering is nice and tight to. Had a conversation with a guy at gas pump who just bought a 66 lincoln with suicide doors. It felt good to finally drive the 300 the first time, still got alot of work to do but at least I can jump in and go. Dont think I could have got this far without all the help I got from you guys here. Thanks again for all the help!!!
