NOT MINE 1969 Chrysler newport $3,800 Woodgrain Vert

This is a really classy looking car.
Would like to find one , not in New York, without all the rust.
Sharp look.

Many years ago, when we had to shoo the dinosaurs off the drag strip first, there was a couple guys running a '69 Mustang Mach 1 at Utica Rome dragstrip. We often pitted near each other, and they were great guys. One night one of their Dads showed up with a car just like this. I think it was the first Woodgrain Newport I'd seen.

Those guys were from Latham, NY. So, 50 years or so later.... I'll bet it's the same car.

That's a great story John, it has to be the same car. It is the same car.

How cool is that!

This car is surprisingly clean for being a new york car.
Is this in anyone's wheel house here?
Hate to see it crushed or it's heart robbed.
Too much cash at this point ??

It depends on a lot of things. As a convertible, it may not have seen a lot of winter driving. It may have too... You don't know and you don't know if and how any rust was fixed. SOP for rusty cars at used car lots involved newspaper and Bondo.

However, they seem to be talking about rust from sitting in a damp garage. Dirt floors can destroy a car's floor and frame. It can also just make it look bad. Storing where there were farm animals, especially chickens, will destroy the entire car.

Then there's what "rust" means to the person describing it. I've seen cars parted because they were "rusty" that people here in the northeast would call minimal. I've also seen "some rust" in ads and the car is pretty much scrap.

So, you never know. I'm not close enough to (150 miles) to be able to look at the car and I don't need another car, especially a project.

Wasn't a video uploaded on here about this car, when they pulled it out of its resting spot?

I watched the video and it's a good lesson in how not to load a car. Square the trailer to the car and throw a couple towels over that winch cable so it doesn't hurt you if it snaps.

I couldn't get a good look at the seller, and it's been a lot of years. The age is right and there's a big shop out back, so maybe.

Their drag car. And yes, the grandstand was that close to the starting line. Outlaw 1/8th mile racing!!!

Hart & Todd with pinstriping

Somebody hurry up and buy it before it goes up in price again.
Gotta add that tow charge plus time and materials each time it gets purchased and moved.

This is certainly a rare car. For 1968 there were only 175 Sportsgrain Newport convertibles produced. I can’t find numbers for 1969, but they were even lower.
