My 62 Imperial radiator sprung a couple of leaks in the core after it's maiden voyage to lunch yesterday. In the event that it can't be repaired I need to know if it's the same radiator as a 62 Chrysler. I've found new ones for Chryslers but none list Imperial. Anyone know?

Here's pictures.

(Comparison of the Chrysler radiator specs to what is now in the Imperial?)

What does the lower rad hose connection look like? Does it go straight rearward?

A Chrysler car has a crossmember there and the lower connection is at an upward angle.

Your car is wide open under there. The Chrysler rad may fit.

I found a new radiator for a Chrysler but the dimensions are different than my Imperial. I can't find anything on line for a 62 imperial. I'll take it to a local radiator shop on Monday and hope they can repair or recore it. Bad news is there's almost no radiator shops left in the Phoenix area. Used to be at least a dozen of them.

Here are a few things I learned after researching my cooling system this summer:

1. As @69CoronetRT shows in the picture above, there are two slightly different radiators for a 1962 413. One is "standard", and the upper hose connection is slightly off center, toward the passenger side. The "High altitude/Air Conditioned" unit has the upper hose connection moved all the way to the passenger side, maybe to make room for the compressor? Either location will work in an Imperial. I am not sure if the number of cores is different?
2. From pictures I have seen of 22" Chrysler radiators for sale, it seems like while the radiator itself is the same across all models, the Imperial side brackets may be different? I can't confirm this, but when looking for a fan shroud, it seems like the ones available for a '62 C-body mount differently. I have not found many good pictures to be certain.
3. I found an article in Car Craft or Hot Rod where they upgraded a 22" Mopar with a unit from US Radiators. Depending on how much the repair costs, this could work? Again the flanges might be different but it looks very close. There are many upgrade options, too: Chrysler 300, 1962-65 V8 361/383/413 Radiator - US Radiator

Dropped mine off at the radiator shop this morning. They said they can clean, rod and repair it. Not cheap $390, but cheaper than a new one ($920) Apparently radiator repair is another dying trade as there are very few shops left that will work on them. Two local shops that I have used in the past had their repair guys retire and weren't able to find replacements.

It's always cool (no pun intended) when you can keep the original, if they do a good job. Best of luck!
