It has been noted in threads in here that the shifter arm on the C-body shifter is longer than the similar B-body item. About an inch or so? Yet they are shaped the same.
As "sexy" as a center console might be, it would be probably easier to find the "buddy seat"/center arm rest for the bucket seat interior. Might be able to go back into the "Slab" era, but would need the correct Fuselage brackets (maybe fabbed?).
I'm NOT sure how the vehicle order would have been orchestrated, BUT in my '67 Chrysler Factory Service Manual, in the illustrations of the center console and bucket seats, there is a small inset above the main illustration. That inset indicates a block-off plate that would go into the shifter slot in the console. I had seen it for years and did not know what it was about, UNTIL I looked much closer at it. I then found the block-off plate listed in the Chrysler Parts Manual! Which means that, somehow, it was possible to get a bucket seat car with a center console AND still have a column shift automatic shifter in it. How would that happen? "Special Handling" Instructions?
Enjoy!
