Im looking for cross reference information for 12R4761B carburetors. I have the holley list number page open and I have not been able to find the series or family of carbs that would share parts. 4761 does not show on the list.

I have googled several list numbers but have not found anything that looks like these carburators. Which I believe to be the 500cfm oem part in 69. I don't have one available currently but my next guess was to pull out all of my 2bbl carbs and compare list numbers.

Respectfully, that noted number looks more like a Holley casting part number for the particular PART of the carburetor, not the 4-digit "List Number" (for the complete assy), that on 4bbls, was usually stamped on the front of the choke plate housing, near the top edge on the driver's side part of the housing. Suspecting the location might be the same for a Holley 2bbl?

What might you be looking for? Just curious.

You might also find all of what you might be looking for in a Holley Variable Spec Manual. Which lists the differences from the main item specs for all Holley carburetors within a particular, wide model year range. Basic settings, plus jets, power valves, gaskets, etc.

Take care,

I was going to order an accelerator pump and gasket kit. I wrongly suspected that the 2bbl carbs were the same for a long time which derailed me a couple times as another car I had bought came with a car kit in the extras but that was for a 73 small block car.
It looks like they got away from this carb in about 72. I do have a 70 intake that I think has the same carb. I think I will get it out and check the numbers and order the parts for it and swap it to the car in question. Which is not my car.

As far as the number goes I was speculating that the complete number was the Chrysler spec number and the 4 digit number within it would be the holley list number. Its only one digit off of a holley list for a 500cfm 2bbl.

Well,
Much time was wasted in this endeavor thus far.
I had a minute at home finally and dug out my 70 polara carb and intake and the first thing that struck me was this is not a holley carb at all.. it's a Carter product. I knew it was the same as the Newp which I checked and confirmed. The story ends where it should have started with me checking the FSM. Of course I was not at home where all of these things are when I was trying to identify parts to order..

The FSM gives two variations for 69 which didn't match the tag numbers.. however the Mike's carburetor site has library on identification. Apparently this carb existed in some form on some product from atleast 1952 to 1990. That's a great run when you consider the advancement in vehicles.

Anyhow sorry for the waste of time but the lesson gained is, the model info is not stamped on the carb at all but is instead on the id tag held on by a bowl screw which could have been switched up.
The recommendation from Mike's is to take it apart and confirm.
Iw ill do this with my dodge unit and order gaskets and a accelerator pump at minimum.

I will swap this onto my nephews Newp to avoid rendering it stationary until I get parts in a carb..

Thanks for that information. The Carter BBD had two sizes. The "LA" motor/"318" size and the "B" motor size, with 1.56" throttle bores. The "Carter BBD 1.5" has a larger and more rounded float bowl section. The smaller "318" size has a more curved/angular float bowl section that is smaller. These nuances can be seen in the FSM pictures. The "318 size" BBD also has 1.44" throttle bores.

It was replaced in the 1970 model year with the Holley 2210 family carburetors. With the Holley 2245 2bbl in '73, with the addition of EGR to the carb and intake. Both of these carbs look the same, with the 2245 having a few more vac line nipples on the carb baseplate.

Glad you got the carb ID figured out. It would not surprise me if the basic gasket kit was the same from about '65 to '69, or possibly earlier. The main differences would be fuel calibrations, I suspect, plus how the air cleaner attached to the carb top.

Happy Holidays!
