NOT MINE Not Mine: 1970 Sport Fury

In the timeframe probably around less than 10 years ago, this old man remembers seeing alot more posts with people lobbying for higher prices. I think it goes in cycles.

Gearing change... rear end or transmission?

I put 2.76's in my New Yorker and would not recommend it, unless you're just driving cross-country. I checked the fuel mileage a couple times back when I was driving it regularly and it dropped at least 2 mpg from around 11 to 8-or 9 mpg at best after the gear swap. You're just heating up the...

Need a Radiator for my 73 New Yorker

I could give you a part number, because I've had one sitting in the corner of my garage for 10 years waiting for the New Yorker to spring a leak. But I didn't know the Imperial rads were that different. I think there's a thread here somewhere from years ago where I got the idea to start with...

    gas turning to varnish

My new Yorker's had the same tank of gas in it for at least five years. I topped it up once a couple years ago, IIRC. I'm pretty severely disabled, so I haven't done much with it lately, except to take it down off the lift every so often when I need to use that for something else. Hasn't...

Need a Radiator for my 73 New Yorker

Some Ford Explorer rads fit and are way more efficient.

    Transmission problems

Sorry to hear ur 60-year-old car needs trans work. I really like the 727s. The one in my New Yorker is still going, even after I worked on it. ;-) Good luck.

    Chrysler Big Block redline??

Similar setup in my '71 is the same way, still chirping 2nd at 65-70mph with a little over 90k on the clock. 2.76 gears, HP440, 727 w/TransGo kit. But it's a freakin' gas hog.

You guys really got it goin' on over there! It's almost like a time capsule caricature of Americana transplanted across the pond.

First 2-dr NYkr seen. I thought you had to get a 300 if you wanted only 2 doors.

Fuel dripping from EVAP cannister - end of my rope

One of these days soon I will get off my arse and get that Chrysler carb in front of me (again) and maybe do some old school driving again this summer. Maybe.

    Where is the fuel going??

This is why I ditched the stocker and went to an electric fuel pump many years ago. No good ever came of those diaphragm pumps - cheap junk.

Yeah, you drive torque - what gets you going. I actually prefer diesels for that main reason - just more fun to drive. Race horsepower.

Thinking of Going BACK to Front Drums

This. The one and only time those things almost got me killed was coming down out of the mountains on I-70 after a ski trip one day back in 1984. I scrapped that car and bought one with discs on it, just to be safe.

Anyone know the gas line route for a 1970 440TNT with air?

I modded the stock fueling on my '71 TnT to use an electric pump mounted at the tank, running the line along the frame all the way to the core support, thru a better filter mounted there, and then back along the top of the fender across the engine bay, straight into the carb. That was the last...

    Transmission Oil

Sorry, I didn't think anyone in their right mind would consider a transmission service on one of these things without a full drain, at this juncture. Fluid prices are going up along with everything else, I suppose.
