    Ammeter bypass

After carefully reading and reflecting upon @72RoadRunnerGTX and others input, my plan for next summer is to relocate the wiring and relays for my headlights over to the alternator side, since they currently sit on the battery side. I haven't had any problems yet, but I do understand that...

    '66 Newport 2 Door hardtop

Finally got dual exhaust with a H pipe installed on the Newport today. It starts out as 2 1/4" at the manifold (original head pipe is 2") and then goes up to 2 1/2" once it gets to the torsion bars. The exhaust flows into a pair of Walker SoundFX 18381 mufflers and empties through a pair of...

    Driveline noise/drone/vibration

I had a Jeep GC with the double cardan joint in the front position. It made all kinds of strange noises at various speeds and I couldn't see anything obviously wrong anywhere. I thought it was a wheel bearing or maybe an axle bearing. I finally removed the driveshaft and discovered that it...

    Exhaust system

I’ve got two of those ready to go on my Newport in 2 weeks.

    Wrong windshield gasket?

Thank you for those photos. My gasket also has that round "dot" in the upper passenger side corner. I looked at a bunch of B bodies and 1 C body at a car show back in August, and most gaskets looked more like mine than not. Very few looked "perfect." Most had some weird deformations. Mine...

Doesn’t turn off when I turn the key to OFF position

My first guess is that you need a new ignition switch.

    '66 Newport 2 Door hardtop

Thanks for your comments. I exchanged emails and comments with him and politely disagreed with him. I am totally aware that problems can and do creep up on you, but I’ve been wrenching on cars for 35+ years and know enough about this stuff to do a simple ammeter bypass without burning the car...

    '66 Newport 2 Door hardtop

I made a short video of the Sanden-style AC Compressor upgrade I did in August, just for folks who like "talkies."

    '66 Newport 2 Door hardtop

The field wire maintains it's factory connection. Here's a video I made describing some of the details. I've gotten some comments on the video recently that I did "everything wrong," but I've done what many others have done, and I've had zero issues in 18 months.

WANTED Two barrel carburetor spacer phenolic/composite

I had the thick gasket with the BBD, but it was pretty crusty so I didn't use it with the Stromberg I put on. I'll see if I can find a new one. Should of thought of that in the first place .. . . derp!

WANTED Two barrel carburetor spacer phenolic/composite

My Newport was sold to me with a BBD from an early 70s Dodge Truck (for some reason) and yes, it's the same bolt pattern.

WANTED Two barrel carburetor spacer phenolic/composite

So the gasket I found that was listed as fitting a Stromberg WW is too small. Second time I’ve run into this problem, which is why I’m posting here.

WANTED Two barrel carburetor spacer phenolic/composite

Thanks- I found another spacer listed as fitting "Tri-Power Rochester" 2 bbl carbs for $30. I asked for specific dimensions since they weren't listed. The one from Canton looks to be correct but is almost 50% more expensive . . .

WANTED Two barrel carburetor spacer phenolic/composite

I’ve got the old “fuel boils in the float bowl after 15 minutes of hot soak” problem, so I’m looking for a composite or phenolic spacer for my ‘66 383 with two barrel Stromberg. Must match dimensions as illustrated in photo below. Thanks.

Where to find cat whiskers/ window felt

Have you tried Dante's? I got cat whiskers for my '66 there. Pricey, but that's the way it goes with C Bodies.

    '66 Newport 2 Door hardtop

Phase 1 of Sanden compressor upgrade is complete. The instructions from Buchillon are not great, and the pictures they provide are even worse, so I’ve taken a couple photos here showing the critical information that one needs to install the compressor and bracket kit on a 66 or earlier 383...

    '66 Newport 2 Door hardtop

Well, after another HOT summer that made driving the Newport unbearable due to its non-functioning AC and Formal Black paint, I went ahead and got the “hard parts” for an AC upgrade. I’ll purchase and install the “soft parts” in the spring and get it charged up at that time. I went with a UAC...

Cause of rust on internal chromework round windshield and door frames ?

I had this exact same problem on my 66 Newport, but in my case, the windshield and backlight trim was PAINTED and rusty/crusty, not chrome plated. A lot of the chrome knobs and dials on the dash were also rusted like yours. I had a rear window that leaked water into the trunk every time it...

    66 Monaco Wagon A/C Resurrection

@TxDon Can you explain specifically where the red and green wire go to once they leave drier/receiver. I think you said you added a switch that wasn't OEM so I'm not clear where those wires go/do when the original system didn't use that thermo-cycling switch. Thanks.
