    1969 polara noisy engine fan

I tried one and it did roar it will turn faster than a standard one. I took it off. it will cool better at idle and low speeds but will block air flow at higher speeds and will cost horsepower. to run one they say you need a different pitch fan.

    68 300 upgrades from stock (cams/heads etc.)

your mtd-2 cam specs are intake 204 duration and 421 lift. exhaust 214 duration and 443 lift on a 112 LSA. since nobody likes comp cams have David check out Ultradyne Bullet cams. intake and exhaust 214 duration and 480 lift put it on a 110 LSA. faster ramp built for the .904 lifter. I will...

    68 300 upgrades from stock (cams/heads etc.)

that cam has less lift than a stock 383-440 HP cam. if I had to use that cam I would use 1.6 rocker arms.

    68 300 upgrades from stock (cams/heads etc.)

I am running low 14's and 100 mph with 2.93 gears and a small comp 217-221 camshaft, iron heads with 1.6 exhaust valves, no headers and Edelbrock carb. running that fast mostly by doing what everyone is saying not to do.

    Cam selection for a 66 383

really the more cam lift the better lift helps at all rpms it is the big duration that hurts bottom end.

    Cam selection for a 66 383

i would not put in the 1.74 valve unless your going to do some port work. get the best valve job you can and the right valve springs it will run good with the right cam. am running the 1.6 valve with a 446 engine you will only have 388.

    Cam selection for a 66 383

I am running 915 heads with the 1.60 exhaust valves pulls to 5200 rpms with no problem. and with a smaller 217-221 cam and 2.94 gears goes side ways off the line or even going 10 mph.

Got my 66 383 block back from the machine shop

to run the alum heads you should have about 10.25 compression. if you have lower compression with that good size 230-236 cam and bigger port heads you will have no low end torque

Got my 66 383 block back from the machine shop

I would not run the factory steel shim head gaskets with the alum heads on an iron block.

    Cam selection for a 66 383

comp says 1.90 height.I bet the springs are 911 on the alum heads too. I am using the 911 springs and at 1.87 height they come in at 127 seat and 309 at .500 lift.

Got my 66 383 block back from the machine shop

I didn't read your post right. i thought it said .010 deck height not that you cut .010 off the block. so where are the pistons in the hole or what is your pin height ? you need to know what your compression is going to be.
