Swapping out a 1971 8¼ rear for a 1969 8¾ rear. Doable or go on the hunt for the correct rear?

Reason for asking is that I'm doing some upgrades on my 71 fury and it would be smart to upgrade the rear. I have an 8¾ rear with open 2.76 in a 489 case sitting in a 69 fury that I'll probably never get around to working on. Has anyone ever done this swap successfully? I see on the charts that...

What did you do to your C-body today....

I found the vent and cable on eBay. The vent was from a 69 Monaco and the cable from a 71 Monaco. I have a 71 Plymouth so I believe the 69 thru 73 c body vents will interchange. The 68 and earlier vents are different.

Fresh oil change today, new showfield sticker slapped on the windshield and all the new parts checked and re-torqued. It's almost go time!

What did you do to your C-body today....

Removed the passenger vent delete plate and installed an original vent and cable and it makes a huge difference. I also half *** fixed the rear door window roller by putting the two halves together and zip tying them, now it functions perfectly. Did the same on the other 3 doors five years ago...

Uncle Ray is going in for round 2

This year's project is complete! The rear settled nicely after I put the bumper on and put some gas in the tank. Took it for a couple laps around town and the ESPO springs and the KYB shocks are a great combo. Now, I'll be waiting waiting for Carlisle!

Thank you! And that's correct, my door tag is 5-71.

    My '71 Plymouth

You're welcome! I used rust seal on mine. Seems like basically the same concept. Brushed and rolled also and it was a ton of work.

Some before and after action. Before: original springs and shitty Monroe coil overs. After: espo 2 inch over stock and KYB KG 5413 shocks. I know it's not everyone's flavor of "stance" but it looks pretty sweet to me.

This is great! Almost exactly what I'm doing. What did you use to paint the underside?

Finally done underneath! My poor creeper took hell of a beating haha! Put a satin top coat on the bottom and the wheel wells got 3 coats of rust oleum farm and implement with a bit of enamel hardener, worked great on the stub frame, so we'll see how it holds up back here. Plan is to pecker...

The underside is pretty much wrapped up and the rear got a high quality 50 foot paint job.

Uncle Ray is going in for round 2

Well, I'm still at it. I've been chipping away at this anytime I get a chance to. It was nice that the mill was slow for awhile I got a lot accomplished. Working two 16 hour shifts and an 8 hour shift for the week was nice while it lasted. Anyways, I had to patch up the wheel wells, yes I...

This came out nice. Popped the cover to check the condition of the gears and this car was never abused judging on how great they looked. So it got the "send it" seal of approval and buttoned back up.

I did a good job of keeping myself occupied this weekend. Rear is out, scraped and cleaned up a bit and I didn't break the rear shackles. God bless Kroil:rofl:

That's a wrap for this section. I'm pretty happy how it came out considering my very basic selection of tools the HF flux core, ball peen hammer and bench vise. Nex,t the rear end is coming out for a good look over and new springs and I'll finish up scraping the slop from underneath.
