courtesy lights - bench seat cars?

My 73 Newport doesn't have the floorboard courtesy lights, but I am considering adding amber strip lights under the dash (& under the rear rail of the front bench seat) to light up the floor boards to activate with the dome light. I would also like for them to come on DIMLY with the...

I think the heel pad pattern is different. I have a 61 and a 62. Floors don't stand out as different, but I hadn't measured.

Just my $.02, unless your going to drive the pants off the car, hardened seats are a added expense you can do without.

    C body 8 3/4 axle question.

Yes possible. No other numbers but a date on ring gear. Either way it is the best 8 3/4 cnter sextion. 65-69 C-body rear is 61.75" wide so it should fit. Do you have the fender tag for the car? Can you post a picture? You could compare the dates of car and gear.

Wow, I just looked through his store. If those are the prices that those parts are going for, I'm glad I got the stuff I needed years ago. Are people really paying those prices?

    68 Polara 383 Heads

I only recently had time to mess with it. I pulled the heads off.I'm getting ready to bring them to the machine shop. I plan on having the valves ground, hardened seats installed, milled flat, and checked over from problems. Part of me just wants to pull the motor and rebuild it. But it made no...

yup. as my grandfather said, too many times its seems, about the Rouge Plant: "a pile of iron ore on one end (of the plant), and car pops out the other end." Not quite true, but pretty close. :)

What are you working on today??

Not the parts that are bad, or the rest of the hard-to-find sensor parts needed for it to work. And removing the entire under dash a/c heater unit is a very major pain. All of it must come out to service it. About 10 hours round trip, if all the moon and stars line up just right. They never do...

    Stub frame weight

47 inch torsion bars weigh 20 lbs for the pair. Specifically, the lighest ones (.94 inch diameter) weigh 19.8 and the next size up (.96) weigh 20.4 lbs. The torsion bars will fall out unless the lower control arm is also still on the stub. They're heavy. Fastenal sells C-body stub frames?

    C body 8 3/4 axle question.

So I'm sending a 69 Fury shell off to the crusher tomorrow after years of salvaging sheet metal patches. I wanted to restore the axle for my 69 Polara project. I pulled it out and cleaned off the years of grease and grime to look at the # 2070742 which according to the 8th edition of Galens...
