    anyone try Valvoline VR1

VR-1 is racing oil and designed for a racing environment - lower detergents, high frequency change intervals. Diesel oil is designed for running in diesel engines - very high detergents, long change intervals, etc. For a gas engine I just use regular old conventional oil. Valvoline (Napa house...

    Happy 21 Years!

Was diving my Newport to my Grandson's school to pick him up as I do every Wednesday when it hit me: This is November! I've had this car for 21 years now! Yep, bought it in November, 2003. Actually made the deal in September of '03, but the deal included I would come up with the money while...

WANTED Rear Seat Belt Bracket 1970 Chrysler 300 Convertible

I just finished doing the interior in my'70 Newport. My rear belts had no bracket; the stud went through the belt mounting bracket (with the belt attached) straight into the hole. Nothing else. From your pictures, I really don't know what I'm looking at or for.

    Quarter window

The easiest way is to drill 3 holes with a hole saw in the panel over the mounting bolts and just unscrew the bolts. This lets you leave the regulator in the body. That means no adjustment or fooling with the spring that can take a finger off. The hole saw just needs to be large enough for...

    Driveline noise/drone/vibration

Yes, I looked at that. While it's hard to really see the rubber mount, what I do see is in good shape.

    Driveline noise/drone/vibration

Keep us posted. Another element of the noise I just thought of is a loose/soft/cracked transmission mount rubber, or even the crossmember bolts, allowing a slight flex which might change pinion angle? Just a thought.

    Rubbing Belts?

Maybe these diagrams might help the conversation. From a 1970 Chrysler FSM, which means these should all be big-blocks. Apparently there is a single belt application. Who knew?

    Rubbing Belts?

I made a post earlier thats a little bit related to this, actually. The alternator was its own belt and ran underneath the water pump. Theres a nice little wear mark on the one I took off from that belt rubbing on it.

    Rubbing Belts?

Continuing with that train of thought the alternator would have had to have been with it's own belt because it doesn't line up with the compressor. Regardless, it's all wrong.

    Rubbing Belts?

    Criminally insane tomfoolery.

    Rubbing Belts?

My guess is previously the belts were installed differently, in a non-factory way? To me it looks like the same belt could go around both the compressor and power steering pulleys. It might work but it wouldn't be right.
