Floors Dented Up Due to Jacking

1971 Imperial Coupe. The really bright, careful and super-mechanic previous owner/mechanic apparently ignored the proper way to jack up a unibody Imperial and placed the floor jack under the rear floor pans. On both sides. More than once, I believe. The result is footwells in the back raised 2...

Any advice timing chain replacement 62 imperial

If you do find a bad timing chain, it should be pretty straightforward to replace. Remove the radiator and condenser for access. When installing the new one, make sure the oil flinger is on the correct way and pre-lube the chain generously.

Any advice timing chain replacement 62 imperial

Ditto - that is a beautiful automobile. On the 413's, wear in the distributor drive can mimic timing chain wear. Wear can occur in the quill that drives the distributor shaft as well as wear on the driven portion of the distributor shaft. Just a couple thou here translates into a lot of timing...

What's this below the dash? 68 lebaron

Actually, if it is a 4 track unit, those cartridges are not 8 track compatible. The 4 track cartridge tape is driven by a capstan that emerges from the bottom of the unit, and inserts through a hole in the front right of the cartridge. The 8 track cartridge has no such hole, and the tape is...

    Teach Me about Power Steering

By 1967, MoPar was recommending the MoPar fluid. Using Type F ATF is not going to hurt anything, but it would be a good idea to change it out during your next maintenance interval to the modern synthetic PowerSteering fluid available on all the parts store shelves. ATF+4 will work well too.

    Teach Me about Power Steering

ATF type F is specified and correct for early Chrysler and Imperial power steering systems. What year is your Imperial?

    Teach Me about Power Steering

Worn out PS pumps show the symptoms you describe: poor performance at idle, belt chirping. You should not convert one pump type to another. Stick with what the factory installed. Fix all the leaks, especially if in the high pressure hose. The pump will usually go bad before the box does. When...

    1970 - 1972 Imperial ammeter

The ammeter is missing from my 71 Imperial. For those of you with a 1970 - 1972 Imperial handy, is the "D" and the "C" printed on the ammeter itself or is it printed on the clear window for the ammeter? It's hard to tell from this photo:

    Mopar key question

Not too sure about 1968, but you may find that the glove box lock will work with any round-head trunk key.

    1957 Imperial

Great automobile! Looks like its got the gas heater option and is a later model run as evidenced by the fender stay brackets. You've got the optional power antenna and right-side mirror. Needs a vacuum tank and power brake booster. Where has it spent most of its life?
