if you had a 1,000,000+ bucks to send on you home site for my hoard , where would you live ?

well i don't want to go on n on about my sister . but she just moved to las vegas in march 2019 . i told her it was bad timimg . but she went to be close to her kid and grand kids , thats cool just pour timing i thought . my pops was fading away . so she moves back to san jose into his primo house , and give notice to her las vegas landlord . just moves in with out even talking with me first . i'm the oldest i should have the rights to turn it down first , then she tells me she wants to sell properties and split the funds , but never says she wants to buy me out of the house she moved into , like i'm to owner half of her future pig sty , i've had to clean up after her to many times to want to be there again . so what i'm thinking is make the slit and be done with the partnership . and sorry about the way i write , i went to school here in california .
 
I see you're in San Jose, my home town. I moved to Hollister to take advantage of the open spaces and property values. You could do much worse.

Just curious,what are the advantages of Nevada over California? Less government regulation I'm guessing is a big one but does that effect car ownership in any way? or land usage?
I'm thinking privacy could be found in a lot of places but is there anything about Nevada that's different?

I like this idea as I'm looking to do something similar as Pomonamissel when I'm ready to pull the plug on the working life(no inheritance for me though) and am considering a warehouse where I can store a dozen or so cars as well as having a segregated work area and possibly a loft area to live in.I could also look into a duplex close by to live in (rental income could come in handy) if the loft concept doesn't work out.

I was initially thinking of buying a rural acreage with a house then building a big shop but building a new shop that size is difficult to do in most areas due to zoning regulations as well as being quite costly and could take years to complete depending on size,design,availability of local labour,etc.I figured buying an existing building then modifying it to suit would be a much simpler way and likely avoid a lot of those headaches.Another strike against the rural property house/shop setup is possible criminal activity when you're not around.If there was a house on the property and you could rent to someone trustworthy,it could work out but could also work against you if you have to rent to strangers and the tenant turns out to be less than honest or has some sketchy friends.Upkeep on a large property can also be pretty substantial and become another burden on your free time as well.
Just a few thoughts that have been floating around in my head for awhile now.

Mowing grass sucks!
Keeping a mower running is like another daily driver maintenance headache.
Rural is nice, but has its drawbacks also.
NO NEIGHBORS is A#1 important.
I will take the neighbors in a urban type setting as long as they go somewhere else after work.
If the area has good internet, security is not a problem, in a rural area good internet is not happening, maybe not by my lifetime.
Plus, I like to junk up my area, makes me comfortable, like old shoes. Neighbors do not factor well into that equation. Junking up the area also deters thieves if it is just lying around it is not worth anything. Locked up tidy and neat, there has to be something worth stealing there.
Yes, you would not like being my neighbor.

Amen to the mowing grass sucks.After a several years of mowing the grass on my city lot I decided I had enough and had it all removed and gravel put down.Much better although the weeds do come through eventually.

Unfortunately,most neighbors do work standard 9-5 jobs and are around after work and weekends which limits the noise you can make unless they're hard of hearing or noisy themselves.Space is good or get a place next to or in an industrial area where they can expect noise and vehicles and equipment laying around.

Internet security is good to a point but it still needs to be monitored by someone and someone has to attend.A smash and grab of your stuff doesn't take long and while a video record is good,it doesn't undo the damage or get your stuff back.Rural crime is a problem in a lot of areas,thieves will just drive onto your property and see if anyone comes out and if not,they'll start stealing your stuff.Risky for them but if they're junkies,that isn't a factor.

I have a neighbor in behind who's back yard is...lets just call it reverting back to it's natural state around his scattered stuff.I don't stress about it,he's a decent guy but clearly making his outdoor living space into some sort of zen sanctuary isn't really on his agenda.Doesn't bother me at all and he's not likely to complain about the old vans I have in the back yard that I use for storage sheds.

Where should I start for you on advantages? What do you want to know what's different then CA. I'd be more then happy to help get your questions answered. The list is very long.
