Lots of small block there for sure. B bodies builds a lot of big blocks but many are for maximum performance and 500 cube strokers. Like anywhere, you need to sift through the threads to find the information you need.

What you have is a hydraulic pump with a couple cylinders. Can't get much simpler than that. You could put water in it and it would work, but probably not for long, but really you need a fluid that lubricates the working parts of the pump and keeps the seals in good condition. So really...

You won't loose much compression because of the larger gasket or because of the thickness unless you go crazy with those sizes. We build a lot of engines over at FABO and talk about this a lot. For a street car rebuild, just use the smallest/ thinnest gasket you can find. Summit is a good place...
