    Lifter preload tolerance..

the factory lifter has 200 thousand travel. the factory preloads I have seen were over 100 thousand. i had the stock retainer clips pop out because of too little preload. not enough valve spring pressure will cause lifters to pump up a lot more than 100 thousand preload. 5500 rpms was red line...

    '66 Newport turn signals

I have a '66 Newport and am having issues with my turn signals. I flip the lever on and as soon as I begin the turn, the lever "returns" just enough for the signals to stop flashing but doesn't completely cancel. Once the turn is complete and the steering wheel begins to return to center, that's...

    Lifter preload tolerance..

.065 is a good number in general, but when I was building VERY high-revving 340s (including T/As) I was setting preload (w/ adjustable rockers) at .040 because I was concerned about float/pump-up. Cold start noise was not an issue, of course.

    Lifter preload tolerance..

The FSM does not address preload because there is no provision to adjust it, and no need to be concerned about it because of the amount of plunger travel and valvetrain component tolerances. It does talk about lifter noise. Typically, a bit of trash gets in the lifter and affects the...

    Lifter preload tolerance..

First, I think those Lunati specs are 0.020-to-0.060, meaning 20 to 60 thousandths. Not 0.2 to 0.6, meaning 2-to-6 tenths which is over one-half inch. Anyway, you just want to be somewhat close to those specs. There's plenty of tolerance on hydraulic lifter systems, which is why they're...

ENGINE removal question on 66 Chrysler 300

On the Mobile Director car I had to remove the front stub frame anyway for rust repair and when it was ready to go back in so were the fresh engine and trans. Loading the stub frame and installing the whole thing as an assembly was by far the easiest engine/trans swap I’ve ever done. Most...

ENGINE removal question on 66 Chrysler 300

interesting. on my 67 new yorker, we tried to fit the motor and box back int he car together but we couldnt get the sump to clear the crossmember without the end of the gearbox tail section hitting the floor or thebellhousing/heads hitting the firewall. Maybe having the car up on hoist, higher...

67 new yorker 4dr hartop rear screen seal

Im not too concerned about the cost, it is what it is. However, if i can find a cheaper place to get it from, that would be great! It is not leaking, but it is old and hardened. We need to remove the glass to do some rust repairs that are close to the screen/seal area. As mentioned before, its...
