I've never seen a low fuel light. I guess I have to drop the column, and tear into the dash? Is a low fuel light an option that might be shown on the fender tag?
I replaced the tank sender along with the tank. Re-did grounds.Reads "1/2" with a full tank. Most of the time it's 1/4 to empty, even though there's gas there.
I just bought a new voltage limiter. How much of a headache is it to change it, what's involved?
Then there's an electric Ebay clock that shape for $85. You have to get at the backside to set time, which seems like no fun. Rather be able to touch a knob.
I guess a 1971 clock is different. Someone offered a 71 Newport clock. Maybe only 69 and 70 are right?
If the car came without a clock, are the fasteners there to install one, or do i have to figure that out as well?
If you are going to bolt a chain on horizontally, please use a 3/8 hole. That sideways shear pressure is a lot on a bolt. They are designed to be used in tension, where they're strongest, not in shear.
Most holes on the block are 3/8. Carb goes on 5/16 Studs.
Never choose a block or head hole with no "meat" above it. The bolt can tear out due to the sideways pressure, and thin wall. A teenage me learned this.
We worked on our outboards in the marina in N.J. all night long, till sunrise. Those Stewart Sandwiches were a 12 year old's definition of delicious!!!!! There were a bunch of different flavors.
And the magic oven, which must have just been a microwave. About the first microwave. The...
That phone looks primitive in that 1970 car. I recently saw the 1949 James Cagney film "White Heat", where the cops talk on the phones in their cars. They also attach a transmitter to the bad guy's car, and track it using triangulation. Like a LoJack. New tech may not be as new as you think...
Curious to know what our cars will bring these days. 20,000 seems like a tough nut to crack. 15,000 seems almost as hard. Seems like smart folks put their 20's and 30's into appreciating assets, like Camaros and "Vettes. For me, C convertibles are purchased to enjoy, not appreciate in value.
I know the taillights are different than those on my '70. Could those lenses be "dropped in" to my bumper, and work fine, or did they also change the bulb spacing / positioning?
Mine are broken and cracked. Thought about installing some '71's for the time being, until I can (hopefully) find...
