Love the car phone!!

Look like the seat inserts have been replaced with fabric (velour?) but that's really not a bad thing. I cover my vinyl seats with beach towels for any extended trip with the top down.

Curious to know what our cars will bring these days. 20,000 seems like a tough nut to crack. 15,000 seems almost as hard. Seems like smart folks put their 20's and 30's into appreciating assets, like Camaros and "Vettes. For me, C convertibles are purchased to enjoy, not appreciate in value.

So... Anyone else besides me looked on eBay for an old car phone after seeing this? I haven't found one... and I don't know how I would do it with the console, but it still really intrigues me.

That phone looks primitive in that 1970 car. I recently saw the 1949 James Cagney film "White Heat", where the cops talk on the phones in their cars. They also attach a transmitter to the bad guy's car, and track it using triangulation. Like a LoJack. New tech may not be as new as you think.

John, you could probably cobble together an old desktop dial phone, loop antenna, and bunch of colored lighted pushbuttons. A conversation piece just the same, and most people wouldn't know if its real or not. "It's old, and the service is disconnected". Or, connect the ringer bell to a cheap car alarm system, keep the fob in your pocket, and make it ring, (and answer it), as needed.

In an old Andy of Mayberry show there was a 1966 Lincoln that the guy had a car phone
and Andy made a call from it and was amazed by the new technology .........

Late 70's early 80's the was TV show called Vegas. Dan Tanna was the characters name, who I believe played a private eye on the show. He had a car phone like that in his 57 T-Bird.
Another thing I remember about the show was he would park his car in his living room.

I kept my crotch rocket in the middle of the dining room for 3 or 4 years until the wife finally asked if she could have a dinner table back.
