    Plymouth 383ci Big Block question

I'd do a compression check for sanity if nothing else. Doesn't take too long and it would show if one or two cylinders were low. Harder to blow a head gasket on a big block, but not impossible. One thing I love about 440 Source is they listen to complaints and problems for their costumers and...

    Plymouth 383ci Big Block question

The Stealth head is fabricated to use all the stock hardware, pushrods, rocker arms and shafts. The combustion chambers are perhaps a couple of cubic centimeters (why do we use metric when discussing cylinder heads?) smaller - 80cc vs ~83 for 906 stock heads, but this will be compensated for by...

    Plymouth 383ci Big Block question

440 Source Stealth heads are hard to beat for a near stock engine. And they look like 906 heads which you most likely have. Stealth Aluminum Cylinder Head - COMPLETE - SINGLE HEAD I think the heads definitely need to come off, but it may not be a head gasket. It could be a crack somewhere.

Got us a 1967 New Yorker

Nice 67 New Yorker! Looks to be in great shape! I love the blue! The ideal vacuum reading should be nice and steady at idle between 17 and 21 inHg. And no, the 440 isn't very economical on gas, but can get 12 or 14 mpg if mostly cruising on the primaries.

    Same old question: Tranny fluid?

To add to the fire, I always check my transmission fluid on level ground with everything at operational temperature. It's the most accurate way. And yes, with my foot on the brake, I like to run through every gear and stop at neutral, apply the parking brake (only time I ever use the dang thing)...

    1962 Imperial Crown Disc Brakes

Mopar_Mudder, does the AAJ kit keep the 5x5.5 bolt pattern? I like the idea of front disc brakes on a car that weighs ~5000 pounds!!

Spark plug questions and spark wires.

Hey, I still have my Packard 440 wire and Rajah connectors! Boy do they mess up the AM radio! I wonder if I put them back on and got close to a battery powered car if it would screw up their computers! Wouldn't that be hilarious!

Spark plug questions and spark wires.

Second recommendation! Eight to go! I like using Champion RJ12YC plugs and Moroso spiral core wires. If you don't want resister plugs - J12YC. DODGE Moroso 72656 Moroso Blue Max Spiral Core Custom-Fit Wire Sets | Summit Racing I have run those wires and resister plugs for about 25 years on my...

    727 Torqueflite Rebuild Recommendations

First, buy the torque flight book from Tom Hand! Tom has a lot of great information in there and walks you through a rebuild! I am constantly using it for reference material. For rebuild parts, I like buying Pioneer seals and gaskets from Rockauto and then buying clutches and steels from A&A...
