    Plymouth 383ci Big Block question

Dang no fun. I guess anything is possible with this car. The story i got was it was sitting for years. The guy in bought it from "got it running, put the tunnel ram on it, but couldn't figure out why the brakes never worked" so he "never really drove it." The brake fix wasn't to bad. I...

67 383 engine block heater inlet and outlet pipe thread size?

Alright. Finally got off my lazy *** and swapped out the barbs. Luckily for me the outlet hose side (the one closer to the front of the car) was able to be removed without having to remove the entire hex extension thingy. The barb threads are indeed 3/8" NPT. For any aussies here, Bunnings has...

    Plymouth 383ci Big Block question

Yeah, the more I think about, the heads are coming off. The compression check might help point to a blown head gasket which would be a whole lot better than a cracked cylinder head or block. If you look at the head gasket, the thinnest spots are between cylinders and between a cylinder and oil...

    Plymouth 383ci Big Block question

Yep... My own fault. This was 45 years ago. I forgot to drain the block on the drag car. It was a very late night, I was exhausted, and I left the car outside on the trailer. The tracks always wanted us to run straight water, so no antifreeze. The temperature dropped to the high 20's and...

One more thing. No sure if it helps. The car idles cold at 65-70 psi oil pressure. Which is nice.

    Plymouth 383ci Big Block question

To add to that, it seems to start ok but as it warms up, it starts to have a miss. I am guessing that's when the coolant starts to warm up, build pressure and then start to find it's way into the oil. I see no sign of oil in the radiator. No oil or coolant under the car. Oddly it doesn't...

    Plymouth 383ci Big Block question

Ok, suppose the compression comes out good on all cylinders. What would you suspect would cause coolant in the oil? On the flip side what would you suspect if it was low on 1 or 2 cylinders? Thanks

    Plymouth 383ci Big Block question

I'd do a compression check for sanity if nothing else. Doesn't take too long and it would show if one or two cylinders were low. Harder to blow a head gasket on a big block, but not impossible. One thing I love about 440 Source is they listen to complaints and problems for their costumers and...

    Plymouth 383ci Big Block question

No i haven't done a compressiontest. I did bore scope the pistons/cylinders before i started it for the 1st time a few months back. They looked fine, some usual carbon and even cross hatching still left on the cylinder walls. It did run on initial start up for several minutes (until it warmed...

    Battery Upgrade - 1963 Imperial

Interstate still makes black batteries. In their online catalog. They supply OEM to Toyota, Lexus, Hyundai, and others. Just change the stickers between the brands. Seem to be decent prices and they have some local/regional retail stores. Might check out their website and catalog? CBODY67
