    72 newyorker 73 fury

I can be in there to undo the ignition lock ("key switch") in about 10 minutes without destroying the original. Pop the steering wheel off is the worst part of the whole thing

If you have the keys you shouldn't have to but it's easy anyway

    72 newyorker 73 fury

I've pulled the steering wheel and popped the lock out before so I could unlock the steering, easy and doesn't take long at all.

    1978 Newport... replacing ball joints

But NOS parts have not been exposed to UV, or exhaust heat or the twisting and turning of being installed. I don't think I'd want 60s NOS but 80s wouldn't be so bad.... I'd rather but new but old parts than brand new sources from hong kong phooey -land..... And your comments about "alleged"...

    1978 Newport... replacing ball joints

Not so with bushings. The alignment adjustment on these cars was with cams on the control arms that absolutely must be dismantled to get the control arms off, it's quite doubtful you will get them back exactly where they were.... I was an alignment guy for 20+ years, still so some front end work...

    Windshield compatibility 1971 Newport

My son who is also a member here that posts even less than I do but he keeps in touch with Wyatt and the other guys in the area on the side, had a helluva time finding a windshield for his 72 wagon. I had to go all the way to Murray Park to get one and pay out the nose for a used one at that...

    We've lost Locumob - Scott.

It was said somewhere in this thread that he worked swing shift. I know that routine all too well, have done it 2 different times over the years, one being 12 hr shifts and the other place was 8s, I remember having too many close calls driving home after being on nights... I usually made sure...

    We've lost Locumob - Scott.

Yikes. I mostly seen him and his posts on the "trucks only" site and occasionally on FABO as I admit I honestly don't come on this one as much as I probably should

72 Fury III 4dr Got my mojo back! Wrenching again...and I have QUESTIONS

It seems that of the small blocks from back in the 70s I've seen more sludged up 360s than 318s for some reason but that rust.. that's a different story. In the busted thermostat housing bolt is be threading a nut on it as best as I could and get the mig out and weld it to the stub. And yes...

727 trans pan gasket that doesn't leak??

No C body "should" have a 904. As heavy of a car as they are they need the heavy duty -ness of a 727.....

727 trans pan gasket that doesn't leak??

I use either Indian Head or Aviation seal or even Hi Tack on many places but I try to avoid using anything besides a gasket on a trans pan.

727 trans pan gasket that doesn't leak??

It's not a secret I just don't know it off the top of my head. I think it's listed in one of my ATSG trans overhaul books, I do have an a500 sitting here that I have to go thru and get a pan gasket for anyway I'll look when I get home. I can't tell you how many idiots I've seen where the they...

727 trans pan gasket that doesn't leak??

YES they are available for a 904. And yes the a500/42rh/re and 44rh/re were available in more than just v6 and non magnum 318s. They were in many 318 magnum equipped vehicles. And every one of those transmissions had the same kind of pan gasket. That said I've seen a few transmissions lately...

Filled my rebuilt engine with 6 quarts including filter and dipstick says 1 qt low.

when you drain the engine you dont always get it all out. with a fresh engine that starts out totally dry, its not unusual to have to put in a little more than you would on just an oil change.

    best carburetor

The only Holley carbs I've ever had even decent luck with were the 2210and 2245 also the 2 bbl ones they replaced the bbd with. And even the 2210/2245s have been a crapshoot, as to whether they would run worth a ****.

    best carburetor

How about a TQ???? I've had good luck with them on a cruiser . For a 1/4 miler not sure. I've also had good luck with AFB/Edelbrock except: On a couple of them with afb's, when in hot weather especially/, I have had trouble with fuel percolating when I would shut them down and went to restart...
