    For the exhaust, just use longer flange bolts and an exhaust donut gasket. The difference in height is about 1/2" or so.

    A vice will push the studs out. I've just done it to the front left hub on my '67 Monaco after popping the hub out of the drum.

    The correct way to do it is remove the axle and press the old studs out and press the new studs in using a press. Anything else is a compromise. You risk stripping/awakening the treads using a lug nut. to pull the studs into the axle flange.
