My car came with a 383 4bbl, 4 speed, 3.23 gear, and an AM radio/reverb speaker for options. I can't imagine a housewife in the 60's or 70's parking it, it takes a lot of strength with manual steering. Kind of a weird niche car, big and clunky with no options.

Did you check the coil to see if it would spark?

I feel your pain on the humidity here. I'm on the Gulf coast, things rust inside the garage just from moisture in the air. I painted every piece of suspension on my car just for that reason. Any nut or bolt I missed gets rusty.

My down and dirty quick check would be get the big coil wire close to metal, and have someone turn the engine over, see if it sparks. Probably not the right way but probably won't hurt anything if done quick. If still no spark, trace the small negative coil wire circuit back, it's probably not...
