1967 Plymouth Fury III voltage regulator

Nah, he doesn't sell them anymore. Regitar C524 as per Mopar Man's post will work. I've got it on mine, seems to work acceptably, I haven't paid attention to the charging voltage though. I remember someone on a Studebaker forum (unfortunately seems like the link is dead now and I can't even get...

Are LED headlights a worthwhile upgrade?

Sure it wasn't because the bulbs were old? Mine were probably the originals, they were pretty dim. Visible, but dim. Bought a 10-pack of 3W incandescents, and they were nice and bright again. I swapped out the gauge idiot lights in my 96 camry for LEDs and honestly they were too bright for my...

Are LED headlights a worthwhile upgrade?

It's great isn't it. It's this kind of restomodding I like - genuine improvements that still retain the overall characteristics of the car. Not just slapping on 20 inch wheels and rubber band tires and coilovers then calling it a day like you see a lot of youtubers do. With what we have now...

Did you whip up that table yourself? Neat! Wonder how much aircraft landing lights draw...hehe

Speaker Options when Upgrading OEM Mono Radio

Good find, sometimes I wish our country and Japan chose to drive on the right side of the road. Would make parts so much easier to get and Japan has some pretty snazzy cars lol. I'm too young to really know about this, but I wonder if it's because everyone uses FM now, so head units and...

Are LED headlights a worthwhile upgrade?

Not necessarily aim, but the beam pattern - the reflector is shaped precisely to aim the light exactly the way it should: The shape is designed around the exact locations of the halogen filaments - if the diodes on the LEDs do not match up the beam pattern will be thrown completely off. Notice...

Speaker Options when Upgrading OEM Mono Radio

Yeah with a single dash speaker I just don't think you'll get a stereo effect no matter what you do. Only other way to remedy that would be to fit speakers or tweeters in the corners of the dash, either under or above, and stick some speakers in the doors. That would require cutting up the door...

Speaker Options when Upgrading OEM Mono Radio

A fancy/high-end dash speaker would probably be a waste of money; a vehicle is probably the last place you'd ever expect to get a good acoustic environment, especially with our cars that don't have the 40-50 years of advancements in acoustic engineering and knowledge. I went with a 4x10 Custom...

Are LED headlights a worthwhile upgrade?

Do you have a headlight relay harness? Probably one of the first upgrades you should ever do on any car (aside from the bulkhead power feed bypass for our mopars); old car headlights were worse than rubbish because they ran all their power through the the firewall, into the headlight switch...

    Remember when?

Off-topic, but...dunno if any of you guys have watched this video about dishwashers: Basically, tablets are a scam, powder is so much better and cheaper too, sometimes by as much as 10 times. And running the hot water tap before starting a cycle makes a huge difference too if you're not living...

    Tool tips

yeah see i'm still a lanky nerd, so i have to work smarter rather than harder. unfortunately for me the smarts department has been going through a bit of a downturn in recent times. I do have a drum brake tool set, they were a fairly cheap set and they work well enough, but I was just wondering...

    Tool tips

Anyone have a tip or trick for removing drum brake springs with just basic tools, not the actual spring removal tool? I know the trick to get them back on, that involves using a flat blade driver and it's actually very satisfying to do, but so far I've not been able to take the springs off...

    67-68 Fury Picture thread

"That's a neat Fur-wait what...the steering wheel on the other side...? And it's got a Monaco dash??" Original it seems, judging by pics of other same year models I've seen

    67-68 Fury Picture thread

Finally posting a pic of mine...the paint is good from 30 feet away, lol. There's rust here and there, and surface rust all underneath. The front and rear windscreens also leak :D Mechanically though, it's in tip-top shape. Almost all the brake lines have been replaced, save for the long one...

    Sanden conversion or RV2 Rebuild?

Yeah that's the one. I think they're all just different brands for the same thing. It never gets old seeing people's reactions when they notice how freezing the AC is and what I filled it up with. Once had my dad riding shotgun on a 100F day and he turned off the AC after 10 mins because it got...

    Sanden conversion or RV2 Rebuild?

interesting. Wherever I look it seems to be 75-85% charge for an R134a retrofit. HC12/HC12a (really just a marketing name) is just a mix of typically 60% propane (R290) and 40% isobutane (R600a). The isobutane lowers the head pressures. For an R12 system you only need 50% of the original charge...

    Sanden conversion or RV2 Rebuild?

Wait what? I thought going R12 > R134a is 80% of the R12 charge weight. It will never be as good as the R12 though which is why I'm a sucker for HC12. From personal experience it's just as good as, if not better than R12, and your HVAC system will last much longer because it runs at lower...

    Sanden conversion or RV2 Rebuild?

wonder if it's because they're using r134a. fill it up with hc-12a and i bet you it'll be way cooler.

    Alternator Brushes

That's how I've been doing it - for my 383 I wedge it between the block and the alternator and push the alternator out/up as much as I can while I tighten up the bolt.
