When (what year) did front sway bar link change from fixed to removable bushing?

Can one buy one of these aftermarket links somewhere today? That bar with the links with bolts also had a split-rubber bushing at the ends that bolt to the strut rod. My original bar (with the welded links) had a non-split end bushing. And while I'm here - Is there supposed to be any tension...

When (what year) did front sway bar link change from fixed to removable bushing?

No - these are 2 sway bars from 2 different cars. The one with the bolt came from a stub that I know not from what car (Dodge or Chrysler) or what year it was. Unless you're saying they all were welded, even into the 1969-7x time frame? And the one with the bolt was aftermarket? (I was...

When (what year) did front sway bar link change from fixed to removable bushing?

This photo shows 2 links. One appears to be welded (spot welded?) so that it basically can't be taken apart to change the bushing. That was on my '67 Monaco. The second link shows a bolt holding it together so the bushing can be changed out. Did this happen after '67? I'd like to narrow...

Is this an OK way to reinforce a front sub-frame?

The lowest point under the car from what I can see is the vertical seam that runs inboard along the bottom of the rocker panel. If you put a wood beam side to side, the weight of the car lands on that seam and it will get folded and the weight will settle on the rocker panels. If there is any...

What do the leak down numbers mean with 95psi applied?? 1957 301 v8

Isin't the rule-of-thumb that you use a "special" motor oil (break-in oil?) for the first 500 miles on a rebuilt engine, then change filter and oil to regular from that point on? Perhaps this is even more important for flat-tappet engines?

Is this an OK way to reinforce a front sub-frame?

I'm wondering how to support the car during stub frame removal. I've seen several threads on FCBO and can see the stands in pictures but not from the vantage point showing where they contact the underside of the body. The service manual says this: "The floor stands should be placed under the...

What do the leak down numbers mean with 95psi applied?? 1957 301 v8

Rusty Muffler - you realize you have to test each cylinder at it's TDC position - to insure the valves are closed. Or take the valve covers off and loosen the bolts holding the rocker arm shaft so that all valves are closed, no need to have to turn the crank to get TDC for each cylinder. But...

    Tire Pressures

Here's an interesting nugget, also courtesy of hathitrust. It's a document from 1978 that references the tire hearings and testimony from 1966. From the point of view of analyzing the effectiveness of the effort, the cost/benefit of the excercise from a social and economic perspective. The...

Compression numbers wet and dry. What is acceptable?

The compression ratio of the poly's changed a lot between '55 to '58. From 8:1 to 10:1. The '57 was 9.25:1. Compression tests should also go up with comp ratio, all else being equal. Note that compression test numbers are somewhat sensitive to cranking speed, so having a fully charged...

Compression numbers wet and dry. What is acceptable?

What engine is this, and is the cam anything special? Did you jamb a screw driver down the carb throat to keep the throttle open during the test? Were all plugs out of the engine during the test? Was the power cut to the ignition system during the test? Was the compression tester screwed...

Is this an OK way to reinforce a front sub-frame?

From what I could tell, and I went over the entire frame with various rotating abrasive appliances, the entire length of the 2 segments of each rail are welded with a continuous weld, the weld being somewhat variable consistency. Two U-shaped pieces joined side-by-side, welded in a long seam...

For Sale 1967/68 Monaco and Polara Steering Wheel centre

Technically that's for 1967 but it will probably fit exactly the same as for 1968. That would be for the standard steering wheel (non-tilt/tele).

    Tire Pressures

I'm not sure I understand your question. There are dozens of pages of tables in this 484-page document showing various tire-related numbers. What I'm seeing now, only after reading a few dozen pages and skipping through the document, is that they appear to have not had indepth focus on tire...
