With the a/c 6-blade water pump, the drive ratio also increases to move about the same amount of water as the 8-blade non-a/c pump does at the lower drive ratio that pulley set has. Is the system charged to about 90% of the R-12 charge level with R-134a? Is the "lesser cooling" happening...

If your sucking the lower hose closed/shut you have a restriction in the radiator. Does coolant come out of the radiator if cap left off and revs to 2500 rpm.

Do you have a clutch fan and a shroud on it now? It should all be working properly and may help your a/c and heating up problems as long as all is well with your cooling system. I wouldn't condemn the pump until you check out the rest of the system.

Does yours say made in Canada on tank? The spectra ones are manufactured there.

Cant argue with the points. Lower radiator is running about 140, but with higher flow it could screw up.....just pushing the envelope. I have never liked the higher temps....esp today as with the 210 thermostats, both gas and diesel. I dont give a crap about emissions, just engine...

195 F is a good normal running temp for a 383 especially if you are working it

Coolant picks up heat in the engine and gives up heat in the radiator. Why do you want to rush hot coolant through the radiator and back into the engine with the hi-flow nonsense?
