Compression numbers look good. "Bucks" are related to tuning. First check for vac leaks, including the vac advance diaphram. Might be plug wires, with one or two that are "leaking" voltage? New ign condensers can be bad, too. Find an old one.

The 1 wire with the good heavy conductors should do you right! Appears you've taken an approach very similar to my own. I used an additional relay on my Dodge D150 in a similar fashion to what you've done. I might rebuild a Mopar squareback with a 100A field diodes and GOOD QUALITY BEARING...

Perhaps knowing the casting date/build date on the block and heads might shed some light on the different/mis-matched casting numbers?
