CATL 2024: C-bodies At The Lake on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024 ("hub-and-spoke" to the Studebaker Museum in South Bend, IN)

Good Afternoon Just got off the phone with the Hampton Inn & Suites in Michigan City (approx 33 miles from South Bend. They have approx a dozen room available for 7-8 Sept. Rates are a little south of $200 (depending on taste). I'm sure that taxes are NOT included. Hope this helps...

Why are parts stores part # for 1970 300 440 upper radiator hose wrong?

@david hill and I ran into this issue when fixing my 1970 300 TNT 'vert. I initially ordered a Gates 20630, which was said to listed as compatible for a 440 with A/C and indeed worked very well on Medina, my 1971 T-code Monaco (also with A/C; installation in 2021). Well, it did not fit on the...

Why are parts stores part # for 1970 300 440 upper radiator hose wrong?

I went to 3 parts stores. 1 said they don't make it anymore. 1 gave me Dayco#70592 which doesn't fit and the other said Gates part number is C70592 which looked like the wrong part# so I didn't order it. The only help I found was this picture in another forum with someone that put a 440 in...

    floor shifter linkage bushings

As I was changing my shift shaft seal on my 68 New Yorker, I noticed the linkage bushing on the transmission was kind of janky. I looked one up, $34 for a plastic bushing? I didn't have a lot to do today and had some oil impregnated bronze I had used to make some bushings for an older...

    My Hurst project

Wow, you're going all the way. Cool. I did mine the amateur backyard mechanic way fixing stuff without tearing it down.... and on a shoestring budget. I got it on Ebay with winning bid of $1000 in 2003. A few things still aren't perfect and I'm kind of still working on it, oh well. Keep...

Josh Gates and the Raiders of the Lost Production Records

Again, not exactly true. As long as there are current main-frame computers that use giant rolls of tape, a program can be written for them to read any previous generation tape. That's how I found out there were 13 ' 70 JS27R

Josh Gates and the Raiders of the Lost Production Records

The main flaw in that line of thinking is that you're assuming they separate records by platform. The SG30/31 reports do break down installation rates of options based on sales, but all cars for a particular model year are included in the report. So for someone to go through each report and...

Least expensive way to bright headlights?

I didn't realize I'd get so many good posts. Thanks for all the help. I'll post the difference once I get into it. I took a quick pic. I'll clean them as you guys said but I don't think it looks too bad for 54yrs old. Doesn't Halogen consume much more power? I'm not sure my 54 year old...

Hot? 85 is not hot. That is comfortable July weather. The Carlisle forecast has the show dates the coolest of the week. Rain is inevitable at Carlisle.

I don’t mean to be a downer —- but the forecast for the entire Carlisle week —- day and night is HOT and WET —- Wednesday, Thursday, Friday , and Saturday…. Your car may spend its whole week inside the trailer…. ….

Fiberglass scoop install on metal hood

Add an inside metal flange and bolt it on from the bottom inside like the original max wedge scoops were. My two cents? This one is metal made by a skilled A/C duct builder and sheet metal guy.
