Engine swap should I go 360 or 383

REGARDLESS of which engine you decide on, if the car does not have a (optional on 318 cars, std on 383s) front sway bar, GET ONE from the salvage yard. In reality, it should have been standard on 318 cars, but was not, usually. Might need to upgrade the brakes with the heavier 383, too...

Haha yup! It has been on this site before listed ages ago in guillford CT, and traded more owners than an OnlyFans model, but it now rests in the hands of a 19 year old.

Engine swap should I go 360 or 383

Nice looking 66! Both are great engines and have been used for years. If you’re looking for the easiest and can be worked on almost anywhere you go, I recommend going with a 360. The LA 360 would be a drop in as long as you get a weighted torque converter or if you’re trans and converter are...

Engine swap should I go 360 or 383

Considering the Poly's heritage, a 392-style Gen I "double rocker shaft" (i.e., early Hemi) might be an option, but would require a good bit of parts to make it work, I suspect. A stroker LA 408 would be ideal, plus a slightly looser torque converter and otherwise beefed LA904. Nick has a...

    "Ratty" (???) Fury GT

I was annoyed at his flashing a GT and nothing about it. I had no idea if it belonged to a member here or was this up to now an unknown GT.

Engine swap should I go 360 or 383

Yea had also thought of that but the parts are so hard to find and anyone that has them near me thinks they are made of gold for what they are asking. That's why I figured a 360 would be a good build because of the ease of installing and parts being readily available, as I said I also have a 383...

Engine swap should I go 360 or 383

You can also opt for a mild build of the poly. Aftermarket 4BBL manifold, mild cam and a set of headers will get you to about 300hp. Dave

Engine swap should I go 360 or 383

Welcome. Slide the Fury under the crane and the SB will literally fall in. Going with BB is gonna get your hands dirtier. I vote a built and stroked SB to 400 inches.

    Debating selling mine

I found the car at 15, saved for 6 months working two jobs, and bought her as my first car at 16. Was always a GM boy and still am, but loved full size cars and the looks on the 69-71 C body made me stop in my tracks. The one I bought was the first one I saw and I knew I had to have it.

    Debating selling mine

Good for you. I've got a 66 Galaxie that I bought 38 yrs ago. Was my dream car then. Drove her wrecked her rebuilt her, then had to park her in 2000. She waited for me 20 yrs to have the time and money to get her back on the road. 4 yrs into the rebuild and almost done. In the mean time I...
