    Group 24, 27 or 34 battery? Good brand? Marine/RV ?

Hi there, Looking to get a good battery. Group 27 seems to be the proper size but I feel like I've seen higher CCA with group 34. Many websites call for group 24 but the CCA are low, 650 to 750. My car sits for a few weeks at times without being driven very far, and I don't have indoor parking...

What axle housing will serve as replacement for 1973 Polara 8 3/4?

My rear axle tube apparently has a small crack along one of the factory welds, I'm sure it can be repaired but if not and I'm into it for a new axle housing are there any slightly more modern or more easily acquired vehicles where the housing would fit a 1973 Polara? I am not really versed in...

Any ideas how to get this bad boy off?

Finally managed to get the fender off and the blower motor out, I had to cut the wires But there wasn't any other way, I'll make sure I solder them back with heat shrink and all that good stuff but now I can't get the squirrel cage off the motor so I can send it out for a rebuild. Any ideas...

    This overflow line ?

Just curious if anyone has any more info on this line. I'm just curious about it. We determined it's some kind of expansion or overflow venting line. I haven't had time to consult my chassis manual sorry. I saw a small pool under the car after some normal driving in good conditions and traced it...

    1973 Polara cigarette lighter question

I plugged my charger in and it's on even when the car is off. I haven't had any battery drain problems and it's showing 12v. My question is, is the ciggy lighter on these cars activated by physical insertion and i should only insert a charger when charging, or is there likely an issue that...

General fuel system health questions (newb edition)

So during the recent inspection I had done there were no crusty lines observed and the car overall is running fine. Moving on, I was wondering whether people use inline filters such as the one pictured below. Also, I understand from searching there's a fuel filter after the pump likely along the...

To shroud or not to shroud

Greetings My car does not have a fan shroud and I have secured a line on one through eBay. A little pricey for a piece of plastic. Car has been running fine without one, although in bad traffic it ticks slightly above midpoint from C to H, whereas my modern grocery getter always steadily stays...

Remove chrome trim on 73 Polara to remove old cruddy vinyl, refresh roof seams and then do a bedliner re-spray - how to remove chrome?

What is the tool I need to remove this trim, and the trick to doing it? The next phase of this project is to tear the rotting vinyl off, address any surface rust issues beneath, look at the roof seams, and I think I'll be doing a white rhino-liner or bed-liner textured re-spray. I know some...

eBay VIN replica/ replacement, door jamb sticker

Hello, Incoming long question, apologies. TL;DR: The short question is: has anyone used replacement Mopar VIN tags and stickers off of eBay before to replace damaged ones that fell off or became unreadable? The long question and and backstory is: My car was previously without title and...

Basic noob questions on resealing oil pan

Hello, I'm looking to reseal the oil pan just because it's something I feel I can tackle and would be good on an old car like this. I'm getting a tiny bit of drip but I think it's a bad plug gasket, however I'd like to just clean everything up. Is it as simple as YouTube makes it look? I have...

Negative lead location on distributor, 360la engine, for tach green wire

Anyone have a photo or know off the top of their head where the negative lead is? I believe I'm supposed to pass a green wire from my tach through the firewall and attach it there. Anybody have any photos? All I can find are pictures of aftermarket equipment and I am a beginner and don't really...

    Tale of two idler arms

My first problem is that I can't get a 34 mm impact socket for this giant bolt on the installed idler arm (top of the first photo). But once I get that off, it would seem the replacement part that came with the car (long bolt bottom of 2nd pic sitting on invoice) does not have the same size...

    Heater switch resistance questions

Heater switch for non-AC 1973 Dodge Polara. Measured resistance at the selector unit's plug where it attaches to the longer harness leading to the resistor. There are 4 wires, a black (neutral), brown, dark green and light green. Black multimeter lead went into the black wire socket, and I got...

Need photo of non-AC Polara/Monaco heater core

Just planning for the worst case scenario, I'm looking for a photo of a heater core for a non-ac vehicle, (73 polaro Monaco), just to see the piping, how different the fitment is compared to a bodies and b bodies. How easy it is to play with the fitment will determine if I need to go with a...

Blower fan not working - is there a way to test the heater fan switch and confirm it's likely the blower motor?

1973 Dodge Polara factory non-A/C car. So far I've removed the lower dash panel and traced wires from the switch to the resistor, everything seems okay and I removed and inspected the resistor and it almost looks new. I am beginning to suspect the blower motor but I am wondering if there's a...

    Greetings, various restoration issues

Hi there, New member here. I'm buying a 1972 Dodge Polara coupe, and it has a few issues so I have elected to post here under "restoration" as they are not specific to one area. Firstly, I have heat but no fan activity. I think the heater core is good but it needs a new blower motor. I have...
