I have searched all over for these trim clips!

And have not found them, or a suitable substitute. They hold narrow trim strips outside of the windows on my 1965 Plymouth Fury III. They measure about 18mm long and 7mm wide. In the photo, you can see one intact, and another broken off with the peg inside the hole.

What is the secret to durable engine painting?

I had my 1965 Fury in the restoration shop for some work. While it was there, the reputable shop painted the valve covers and some sort of paint on the exhaust manifold before putting it back together After about a year of running it is peeling off in patches. I guess the only durable coating...

Do C bodies use the same outside mirrors as other MOPAR bodies?

I needed to replace the driver's side mirror on my 1965 Plymouth Fury III, and would like to add a passenger side mirror at the same time. 1. I see plenty of reproduction mirrors advertised for sale for A and B bodies, but none for C bodies. Do all body styles share the same outside mirrors...

Intermittent headlights all of the sudden

When I took my 1965 Plymouth Fury over to a mechanic's house last winter, everything worked more or less OK, except a rough idle. That was the thing I wanted worked on. The mechanic got busy doing other things, and the car was left sitting outside for about 9 months. When I picked it up, there...

What is the best valve cover material?

These darn old V-8 engines (mine a 383) are always leaking oil. Most common place is out the valve covers. My valve cover gaskets were replaced not to long ago with cork gaskets. Do rubber gaskets seal appreciably better?

Where is the Turn Signal flasher on 1965 Fury?

Doesn't show where it is in the shop manual. It is not in the same place as in my 1972 Newport. By the way, will those new electronic flasher modules work with both incandescent and LED bulbs? I would like to switch out to LED as the bulbs burn out.

Need Parking Lock Cover for 1965 Torqueflite Transmission.

My 1965 Fury has this part cracked, as can be seen in the photo. It leaks fluid. My mechanic cannot seem to find a good one anywhere. It would be expensive for a machinest to fabricate such a part from new metal. Torqueflite transmissions were so common! Surely used ones should be available from...

Best suggestions for period floor mats

Believe it or not, I got the pristine original carpet in my Grandma's 65 Fury III. I would like to keep it that way. Only problem is the original floor mats have broken in pieces. Would be interested what cut-to-fit floor mats you all have found worthwhile. The old style front floor mats used...

What is a good vendor for stainless exhaust parts?

Got a 1965 Fury with a 383 and single exhaust and I want to convert to stainless exhaust parts. I am tired or rusted clamps with nuts I cannot remove. Also I would like a fancier end to my tail pipe than just a plain old round oxidized tube. What are your favorite stainless exhaust vendors? It...

Fuel starvation before tank is empty

Got my 65 Fury with 383 back from restoration shop after a long time. (Delayed by COVID) I think the rear leaf springs were re-arched to bring the car to level. A new fuel level sender was put in. I had hopes that the fuel gauge would read accurately, but it was not to be. When the tank is full...

What rubber to use for exhaust hangers?

The OEM tail pipe hanger for my 1965 Fury III broke. The U clamp around the pipe was suspended by some sort of thick rubber. I know the chance of getting a similar new hanger is zilch. I can drill out the rivet and just put another piece of rubber in, if I could find the material they used. I...

Is interior of plastic parts a good guide for color?

Nothing gives me as much grief as restoration of interior plastic panels, especially when the sun degrades the surface to powder. I finally found a local guy that can skin the old plastic with a vinyl that has similar texture. But what color? The existing panels of my 1972 Newport are varying...

Can't Find Restoration for 1972 Seatbelts

Plenty of people re-web seatbelts and repair retractors. Not many deal with the buckles. My Newport, like other cars of the early seventies, had a detachable shoulder harness. This allowed a person to wear only a lap belt, or the lap and should belts together. The two were attached by a...

    What Shop Can Reinstall Trim?

My unfortunate 1965 Plymouth Fury has been marooned in a restoration shop for nearly two years during COVID. All mechanical work has been done on this freshly-painted car. I got a call today saying the owner wants it out of his shop, and I need to find a body shop to reinstall all the trim...

    Anyone Restore Interior Plastic Trim?

The kick panels and other plastic interior pieces in my 1972 Newport are faded. The surface of some pieces (exposed to sun) have flaked, giving it a different texture. Some of you do the refurb yourself, but I don't have the time. Are there any paint shops that specialize in this sort of plastic...

How Do I Remove Dash Wiring Harness?

I finally got the instrument panel out of my 1972 Newport. Many connectors are badly cracked. Fortunately, I found a place in Canada that restores MOPAR wiring harnesses. Wow, what a job! Never completely removed a wiring harness before. Got it all disconnected from sockets in the cluster. One...

    Who Rebuilds Heater/AC Controls?

Removed the dash Heat-A/C control in my 1972 Newport today. Several things are broken- the fan switch, the vaccuum switches, and the A/C signal wire connector is cracked. Sure would like the lettering on the plastic panel recoated with silver anew. Is there any restoration shop that does a...

    How to Rejuvenate Electrical Connectors?

Started my most hated restoration task today on my 1972 Newport- disassembling the dash to repair and make modifications. First thing I noticed was cracked connectors on circuits drawing a lot of current- headlight switch and A/C compressor clutch switch, to name a couple. Can any of these...

How do People Restore Package Trays?

I think that is what they are called. The piece of particle board behind the rear seat under the rear window. With all the holes for rear speakers, these are prone to warpage. It is easy enough to paint them, but straightening them out? Doesn't seem possible. My dream is to have a repro metal...

    WANTED 1972 Passenger side mirro

There are plenty of round mirrors for 1960s cars, but I can't find a vendor for a reproducation Newport passenger side mirror It was rectangular, not circular in shape. I have an old one but it is badly pitted, and cannot find anyone to restore. Sure wish repro mirros would give the option of...
