    383 differences per year

DUH! That was the primary point I meant to make! It is exactly like my '65, so I have no idea when they made the change, but I think I lucked out! And, I will do plan on pulling it all apart to clean it. Have to check the bearings and see if they are newish and may even have the block...

    383 differences per year

Just a quick note to finish up this conversation. The engine did have a 12-5-66 date on it and appears to have been rebuilt many years ago. The current owner didn't know anything about it other than it was given to him with a 66 Monaco that he bought for the original Monaco engine. The previous...

    383 differences per year

Well, we will soon see if the engine I'm going to go look at tomorrow has the mounting bosses, drilled or not. And I'm going to pop of one of the heads to take a look at what's what inside. My '65 Plymouth was scheduled to be built in November of '64. That means the engine would be built in '64...

The date on the sellers engine is 12-5-66. Wouldn't that mean it was in a '67 vehicle?

    383 differences per year

My 65 heads are 516's. The seller was not sure what the heads were on the 66. Whats the difference between the 906 and 516? The valve size?

Yes, I understand that I'm looking at it as a core. My biggest concern was the mounting issue which has been answered. And if the heads were any different since mine are basically trashed. Thank you gentlemen.

Well, Shucks.. So are the heads interchangable and are they worth $400 if in good condition? Will the crank, cam, lifters, rods, pistons work in my 65?

    383 differences per year

Just wondering what the differences are between a 1965 and 1966 383 engine. I found what appears to be a good 66 block and heads from a 66 Dodge Monaco that I would like to put into my 1965 Sport Fury while I see if the Fury's engine is salvageable. I don't think it is. At least the heads...

    Who's in the eclipse zone?

I have traveled 400 miles with my grandkids and other assorted family, to south central Illinois from Iowa to be on the center line. We are just now getting up at the motel to go the last 80 miles. Anyone around Mcleansboro Il? Btw, I am driving my '04 Mopar 300M!

NOT MINE 1965 Plymouth Sport Fury, triple black 383 4-speed, $22,000 Sacramento CA

Interesting that each photo has a different set of wheel covers. Or maybe not. Just different angle I guess.

    Welcome, Ercouper

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I replied to the welcome right after the administrator posted and apparently it didn't go through. It showed up when I first posted, but now I see it has disappeared. Anyway... I'm learning the forum and have seen a couple of good threads for what I have. As a...
