WANTED Dip stick for '71 Imperial.

Your longer one would likely work, but I would like the style pictured above (style is more like your shorter stick). Thanks.

WANTED Dip stick for '71 Imperial.

Foolishly lost mine by not returning it to the dipstick tube and closing the hood with it loose somewhere underneath. Measures 20 3/8 inches from where it meets top of dipstick tube to full mark and 23 inches from top of tube to tip of dipstick. For 440 engine.

New to me 70 300 Vert. One owner

After market white tops can be purchased as a pinpoint vinyl or crushed grain vinyl. The pinpoint is a brighter white, but the crushed grain is factory correct and is a little more of a creamy white.

That should be on the fender tag. V3W is a white top for my '70 Challenger. V3X is a black top.

'71 Imperial 727 transmission neutral safety switch harness...

Is this correct? Just doesn't look right with the end off the ear.

'71 Imperial 727 transmission neutral safety switch harness...

Can anyone provide a picture of how this clip attaches to the transmission? Clip... The drawing doesn't provide enough detail. I removed it on my transmission to clean and don't know how to reattach it. Thanks!

1971 Imperial brake parts availability questions.

Calipers can be rebuilt and rotors can be turned if they are not too thin. FSM should specify minimum thickness. If it is a Sure Brake car, original rotors must be kept as the ring that is used to pulse the brakes is part of the backside of the rotor, I believe. This from Elijah Scott of...

    440 heat stove bolts question

You can get 1/2 inch 1/4-20 hex bolts at Lowe's or Home Depot. Won't have the captive washer or exact head shape, but will work.

    440 heat stove bolts question

    Yup. 1/2 inch long, 7/16 head, 1/4 - 20 threads. This from a '71 Imperial.

    440 heat stove bolts question

    I think they are 1/4 - 20s. I'll check.

    ETR valve

The screen fits under the gasket with the spring and tab and points down into the suction tube (away from the compressor). You are missing the ETR valve which contacts the spring and fits into the suction port on the compressor. The ETR valve is a solenoid that is energized via the wire...

Question about RV2 compressor with ETR valve...

I have a '71 Imperial with Auto Temp II. I've rebuilt the compressor, but it is a replacement compressor. On the suction side there is a gasket with the electrical connection to the ETR valve that I recovered from the original compressor along with the ETR valve. Are there any other gaskets...

Follow up to my January post re '71 Imperial leaking oil...

Upper radiator hose is original, lower is an earlier replacement which I inserted the anti-collapse spring from the original hose. So, both hoses have been used on this vehicle previously. I do have a replacement upper for when the original fails.

Follow up to my January post re '71 Imperial leaking oil...

I decided to do a full teardown and rebuild even though the engine only had 45K miles on it. So, I replaced all gaskets and seals, timing gears and chain, camshaft bearings, rod and crank bearings, and piston rings. I kept everything standard size as the crank and camshaft were good and the...

I have a '71 Imperial with an engine leaking oil...

Mileage is 44663. Given the condition of everything, I believe that to be correct.

I have a '71 Imperial with an engine leaking oil...

Yes, I will replace the timing set. Don't want to put that nylon toothed cam sprocket back in. Do you recommend double roller or single tooth sprocket and gear?

I have a '71 Imperial with an engine leaking oil...

I added cruise control and power door locks. Funny thing about the cruise, when I went to install the brake switch I found a factory cruise harness stuffed up under the dash with firewall grommet and all wires and connectors.

I have a '71 Imperial with an engine leaking oil...

Ok, follow up to this thread. I've decided to do a full tear down and rebuild of the engine. I have pulled the heads and rotating assembly from the block. I will have a machine shop clean the block, hone the cylinders, new cam bearings, and freeze plugs. The heads will be cleaned and freeze...

I have a '71 Imperial with an engine leaking oil...

A couple of pictures... Thanks for the intake gasket p/n. Regarding freeze plugs. This car had block heater plugs. I'm not sure I want to remove that option even though I've removed (and kept) the plug-in cable. I suspect the oil sender as the main leak, but it has made a mess, so engine...
